There hasn't been a Spider-man movie since 2007, and that one was piss terrible, so there hasn't been a good Spider-man since 2004. The series needed a reboot with Maguire getting older and Dunst still staying ugly as sin. Superhero movies are all the rage this century. Why not? Just be happy they didn't choose the kid who was in that Percy Jackson and the Olympians movie to play Peter Parker.

It's pointless to retell the same old story.
Now if they did the Maximum Carnage series(perfect mix of traditional spidey and you don't have to be a major comic buff to enjoy it)... nah, that's too smart for Hollywood.
