Just an FYI - His leukemia has been in remission for months. At least that can make everyone feel better. Not out of the woods yet, but it's good he's not suffering as bad any more.

Really cool thing... it caught on world wide.

Yup, this is the stuff that reminds me that humans can care when they want to.

Awesome stuff!

Somewhere this side of sanity.
Yeah, faith in humanity partially restored. Praise to the the people that made this happen, this youngster was already a super hero in my book, but to get to play one too is awesome!

Was awesome to see so many people who had nothing to do with the MAWF or the family come out and support this little guy. That's the best part of all.

some sort of city or state official, went to twitter, saying how many children in dire situations that 105k the city spent on this(yes, they are going to try and recoup the money, but as of now, 105k of city funds were spent on this), could have helped. He was railed on twitter, and wrongly in my opinion.

Not to shit on the parade, but I tend to agree with him. Why does this kid get this, when there may be other kids with the same disease or in other shitty situations getting squat? Its not the kids fault, but I agree that money could have been better spent to brighten the lives of more than just one child.

It was fucking make a wish, I'm sure they'll get most of it back. And besides, as seen in the publicity above, they didn't just throw 105k at this kid. They brought thousands of people together in a single act of kindness that reverberated through the country in positive PR. You can't buy what they got out of doing this for anywhere close to 105k.

Intellectually, I completely understand what you are coming from Tim. BUT this is SF, California. They wipe their asses with that kind of money. Have you seen the cost of living out there?

This country will never have a "can I afford it" problem. We will always have a "do we need it and can we spend our money on something else instead" problem. If the defense budget was diverted to medical/scientific R&D we would have solved all forms of cancer as well as AIDS by now.

I don't give a rats ass about the cost. This was awesome on so many levels.
