Well, we're still here, luckily. Nearest tornados to us came within 6 miles. We have power, although lost it for several hours last night. So far, word is all family made it through, although there are still some cousins of hers from Tuscaloosa no one has heard from. We got very, very lucky.....not far from us, well, to say the stuff is "gone" doesn't do it justice.

Take all warnings seriously, watch those skies, and get to a basement if you have it, if not, interior bathroom or closet.

So glad that you and your family are safe and that you have no damage. It looked like the end of the world was coming.

Just got word that the people we got the house from, one of her cousins was lost. So far family checking in okay although still have not heard from all family in Culman, one of the heavier hit areas.

My favorite teams
  1. Portland Timbers

I'm wondering who the hell pissed off the weather gods this year.

Stay safe if you're there, and it sucks to hear about your neighbors' cousin.

I think the Weather Channel said the death count is up to 213 which includes all states affected. And unfortunately, there is probably a good chance that count will go up as they are able to get into some of the devastated areas.

Good luck getting in touch with the rest of your family, I hope everyone is safe.

Tornado went through about a quarter mile from here last year. It is some scary shit.

Thanks for the well wishes, even you Stu....LOL. Still havent heard from everyone in Culman area, has wife worried, but they dont expect to hear anything till some semblance of order is restored. Her Dad is heading this way tomorrow, we have a few things for him here...we were going to have a fullblown family reunion this weekend, hope it doesn't trun into another memorial service.

My parents head back down to Florida tomorrow morning....kind of a shitty visit..."Hey Mom, Dad, welcome to our new home...oh by the way, we're going to be hit by the worst storm in 13 years."

Jax, we moved here after I retired in Jan. She chose being closer to her family vice moving back to the Melbourne area. She's followed me the last 20 years, can afford to follow her once or twice.

BHC, hope you hear from all your loved ones. This was a terrible storm and will take a while to get everything back to norm.

Was in Romeoville when the Plainfield Tornado went through. Was very surreal experience.
