Rockford and Chicago meet in Rosemont at 7 p.m.

Rosemont, Ill.- Three was not a charm for the Rockford IceHogs on Tuesday night as an early 3-0 first period evaporated as did the team’s three-game winning streak. Tonight, Rockford looks to rebound when they travel to the Allstate Arena to take on the Chicago Wolves in an Illinois Lottery Cup matchup at 7 p.m.

Tonight’s game will be televised on WIFR’s 23-2 “Weather Now”, Comcast Cable Channel 436, Charter Cable channel 970 and Mediacom channel 101. The game can also be viewed online through AHLlive.com and the web stream is available through IceHogs.com.

Rockford has come up empty in three meetings (0-2-0-1) with the Wolves so far in 2012-13, including in back-to-back games to start the season at the Allstate Arena. The IceHogs have struggled within its division, going just 2-6-0-1 against the Midwest Division this season.

After Tuesday’s game, the IceHogs hit the quarter mark of the regular season at 9-9-0-1 and will try to establish more consistency with their team defense, goaltending and special teams. The IceHogs rank 25th in the AHL, allowing 3.26 goals per game and the penalty kill has struggled lately, stopping just 53.3% of their penalties (8-15) over the team’s last three games.

A few players remain hot for Rockford, however, as rookie defenseman Adam Clendening now shows four multi-point games over his last five outings (2g-6a-8pts). Since returning from AHL suspension, Andrew Shaw has goals in three straight games and Ben Smith has 3g-6a-9pts over his last eight contests.

Chicago has cooled after a hot start to the 2012-13 campaign. The Wolves opened the season 7-3-1-0, but are just 1-3-1-1 over their last six games. Special teams have been an issue for Chicago as well as they rank last on the penalty kill (76.5%) and 27th on the power play (9.9%).
