Who do you like to get he final 13th forward roster spot assuming they go with 23 players (13 forwards, 2 goalies, 8 defensemen)?

At this point its down to Smith, Saad, Morin, Pirri, or Kruger IMO

Toss up between Smith and Saad IMO. Saad has had the better camp. Smith deserves a nod for coming up huge in the playoffs last year and he's more versatile.

Ultimately my gut feeling is Smith gets it, Saad goes to Jrs another year and Pirri, Kruger and Morin start the year on the Hogs.

Glad I'm not Stan.

I say Smith. If Saad is the real deal, let him play big minutes in Jr.'s, let him dominate there. IMO, Smith earned a spot last year, like you said.

Saad seems like the real deal. Would love to have room for him but Smith earned his spot last year. I'd also like to even see Morin up with the big club. He impressed me when he was up last year.

Smith. Saad playes with the big club until Patrick Sharp is fixed or 9 days--whichever is shorter, then goes back down.

Another impressive showing by Saad. With Smith going down, ya gotta think Saad will at least get 9 games.

Stalberg left with a lower body injury. Didn't see him hobble off so it was either his groin or his pussy hurts.

Does that along with Smith likely being gone for a while create room for Morin, Pirri or Kruger? I think Saad is a lock for 9 games now.

Edit: Didn't even see him get hurt in the 1st period let alone a knee on knee hit and I watched the entire game. Must have been when my daughter was bugging me to check her homework. Looks like Stalberg is gone for a while.

100 bucks says Stalberg got hurt when he gave up battling along the boards something he always does.

I am mean. Stalberg is a good player with open ice but his board game stinks big time. I am not a fan of players who are soft along the boards and in the corner. Guys like Kane get a pass because 1) they don't have great size and 2) They contribute big time elsewhere. and to be honest Kane at least can figure out the boards through other means and when he does go into them he does often get the puck out.

At 6 foot 3 and 200+ pounds Stalberg needs to be a lot better along the boards.

Still sucks though as he was having a decent camp.

Saad is a lock for the 9 game stint. Can't see why he wouldn't be at this point.

Pay up!!!

He limped off after colliding with a guy at Detroit's blue line.

You could see it on T.V. but Pat and Eddie said nothing about it because they were babbling and not paying attention.

That's a lie.. they don' t do that, I mean I have no idea that he got a Roush from HAWK FORD! last Thursday and that it's a dream to drive, and he lost the bet because he didn't wreck it yet after a week. I mean, I have no clue that it's the first Mustang he's ever had and it's a hell of a car all thanks to the great folks at HAWK FORD!

Oh by the way, I wish someone would have told me but, did you guys know that... EVERY GAME FROM HERE ON OUT WILL BE TELEVISED... I mean it was not too long ago, that home games used to not be televised... did you know that? Every game will be televised all thanks to Rocky and his magnificent **** that is in Foley's mouth.

I like Saad too, but he is not yet 20 so he cannot play in the AHL...only NHL or back to Juniors. So I would rather he go play a lot and focus on getting strong than to have an 18-year-old kid on the roster making huge money for the first time in his life who KNOWS he cannot be sent to the minors.

Morin is not able to play from that list and Bolland was unable to finish that last game, so I would keep Kruger for sure. If anyone gets hurt (and Smith is able after the shot to the head the other night) then he's in for sure. He was good enough last year that I would rather have him than say Bickell.

Glad Kruger went down, looked ok versus the caps yesterday, probably his best game as a hawk. I think he'll really benefit from playing in Rockford. Not sure how they sent Pirri down though, must guarantee that they're going to keep Saad around.

Smith, Paradis ,Morin & Salak will also be sent down later, that will bring the roster to 23 players. I think Pirri will be back doing the up and down routine but there need to be one more forward or dman sent down. Who will be the odd man out?

The real question is, how many roster spots do we intend to roll with? Wasn't too long ago that we went with 21 (mostly due to salary cap reasons) but I assume that we will go a full 23? I can't imagine why not?

A bit surprised to see Pirri sent down. Thought he'd get a shot with all the injured players and the way he played in pre-season. Maybe he'll be brought back up 'fore Friday.
