Man, what a great career he could have had if he didn't have any injuries, especially the one that made him miss the whole 1999 season.

When he was healthy, he was one of the best. One of the best starters when he started and was also on of the best closers and one of the best set up men at one point in his career as well.

Still one of my favorite players.

That was a good day for Kerry. I remember the cloudy day very well against the Killer B's of the Stro's.

Another good memory for me was game 7 of the NLCS where he squandered the lead early, only to tie it back up with a homer as the crowd went nuts. Back-to-back days at home with the lead and a chance to close out the fish, and could not hold it. What might have been?

Wood was awesome! He had days of dominance and some bad days. Injuries suck.
2003 was a year that was so good, but so bad.

Oh well, that is :cubs: baseball. He is still one of my favorite Cubs.

I also remember Steve Stone saying how much he was mowing down hitters in the minors and that Kerry Wood was going to be a special Cubs pitcher. Didn't hear that often from the minor leagues and thus being transferred over to the majors.

Best pitched game I've ever seen.

That Astros had no chance.

Everyone on the planet knew that Wood was going to throw a slider to Bell with two outs in the ninth. He bounced it about a foot in front of home plate and Bell still swung and missed.

That hit was BS also. Should have been an error.

I agree. That and the plunked Biggio away from a Perfecto. Would have definitely been the best game ever pitched.

I have the game on my DVR still from when CCSN put it on last year. I definitely watched it a couple times on drunken winter nights. It is the greatest pitching performance ever. Although, not even he knew where it was going most of the time.
