I'm beginning to believe we won't land Fielder...which begs the question, who steps in?

Dan Johnson
Jorge Cantu
Xavier Nady

and a few others are all out there.

Pena makes the most sense I guess...tho I'd love to see D-Lee back in Chicago on a 2 yr deal. Won't happen w/ Z still here I guess...

well as of right now this team is far from contending, add fielder and the reality is, you are still not a contender. Stick lahair in at 1b and start the process, the sooner the better for cub fans.

the only thing that boggles me is the fact that they traded marshall, and are talking about moving garza.

but yeah, lahair at 1b for 2012

If not Fielder, someone already on the team like LaHair. The middle of the road free agent 1st baseman do nothing for me. Either get Fielder to make things a little more interesting or it doesn't matter.

Pena is nothing to sneeze at @ 1B ( gold glove if i remember correctly)and castro still couldnt hit him with a beach ball....castro needs to improve personally, not by relying on good defensive 1B

I would be shopping Garza to the Yankees and be looking for C/1B Jesus Montero and one of their pitching prospects.

That would give us a big power bat at the 1B position.

I am all for trading Garza for Jesus to Yankees but it won't happen. They wouldn't trade him for Gio. So I think we should give Lahair a shot. He's killing the ball and hasn't stopped. I know his D won't be great but hos offense should more then make up for it.
