That is today's price at Jewel foods.

Now I can understand the overall cost of produce going up due to the harsh winter etc...but $2 for one green pepper?...WTF.

Hmm, maybe it's time to tear out the back yard lawn and replace with 500 pepper plants. Most produce about 10 peppers, that's 10K worth of better quality produce.

Prices are only going to get worse. Everything is getting jacked up so some fat bastard can make more money, while payrates stay pathetic. Its a monopoly. Much like after Katrina, gas prices skyrocketed and I was completely disgusted and mortified when you had those ******* Bragging how much money they made when the Quarterly report came in.

That's sort of where I was heading, the first few responses here missed it. I went to a Meijer as well, all the prices are up almost 20% across the board on many food items no matter where you shop. We're running out of gas, some estimates have the world supply ending in 50-60 years. Every time companies have to drill deeper or find it somewhere else, the cost of production increases.

Yet, we all know most corporations are inherently evil to begin with.

The world is to dependent on oil, and theres not much that can be done to reverse it unfortunately until we run out. And as the oil companies refuse to invest in a real solution to the obvious problems, we suffer the fallout due to greed and ignorance. With technology, Hydrogen power has the potential to be the best alternative for a source of power. However, even if they were to produce and market a solution, it'd be ridiculously over priced to even afford it. Mankind is basically fucked.

I'm very familiar w/hydrogen fuel sources. In fact, I almost bought and installed a unit that converts water to hydrogen which would have doubled my gas mileage. Unfortunately, that isn't as simple as manufacturers would like one to believe. You have to switch your O2 sensor etc. Meanwhile, Honda has had these out for several years and hydrogen is easy to make(hemp and biomass are actually the best sources..lol).

We're headed there eventually. Prices continue to increase and as it is, many are already feeling the effects. Prime example is the housing market and the ignorance of the banks. My mom and stepdad had a house, at the time estimated at like 110,000. Rent was like 800, and it even increased well over a 1000 at one point. It finally went back to 800. Now instead of the bank simply lowering the rent to 500-600, they foreclosed it, and now its on the market for 60,000 with payments at 300 a month. Idiots imo.
