Beckham has stated that he felt like he was brushed under a rug when he was batting in the 9th spot and 8th spot in combo of last year and this year.

Guess 2 hole is a good place for him. I will eat crow on this.

Beckham batting second: 257/304/467 which is meh.

But he does have an OPS+ (technically tOPS+) of 118 batting second which is great.

I've never bought hitting in the lineup affecting performance dramatically. Castro batting third this year challenged that belief to an extent with how different his approach has appeared between the two and three spot, but I still think Beckham has more to do with his ridiculously low BABIP starting to return normal then batting in the second spot.

Ramirez has been haunted by ridiculously low BABIPs too. Hopefully he can explode in June.

beckhams approach is much better. he isnt swinging like a turd like he was earlier at pitches that werent hittable.

Ramirez will get it going. his only homerun is the only game i have been too. I should go again

2 hole is a spot where you HAVE to get on base. I think that's helped to change Beckham's approach this year.

The announcers mentioned it the other day during the game that now Beckham isn't thinking about where his hands are or anything like that. He's just going up there trying to get a hit or trying to get on base.

That's the big difference to me. I think when he was at the end of the lineup he had it in his head that he had to fix his mechanics and was overthinking it. The pressure of needing to get on base in his current position has helped him I think.
