Extended through 2015-16 season, he was due to be an RFA at the end of this year.

Per Bob McKenzie on Twitter, it's for $2 million/year.

Another great value move for the Hawks.

I can't believe it's for $2M/year. I'm not completely on the up-and-up when it comes to Hockey contracts, but I'd think he could get more on the open market...Guess that's the benefit of him being a RFA after the season.

Think he'd get about 3 mill on the open market, and even the RFA market is not completely open per say.

I think being regular Cup contenders played into it plus being able to play the game in front of nightly full houses. Bottom line, is that right now Chicago is thee premium place to play in the NHL.

Soon elite players will be so desperate to join us that they'll take league minimum salary :yeah:

Love the signing, Shaw plays a key role on this team. He wont light up the score sheet, recently though he has. But he is a forward who adds grit (not a whole lot of it on the team) but doesn't hurt you with his hands either. Nice job again by the hawks keeping the pieces that make this team click here this time around. I am so excited about this team now and for the foreseeable future.
