A lot of people are finally starting to talk about a possible 1991 NBA Finals rematch between the L.A. Lakers and Chicago Bulls. That was, after all, Phil Jackson won his first championship. And the series where the perverbial torch was passed down from the dominant team of the 1980's to the dominant team of the 1990's.

But people seem to be forgetting that epic first round series between the defending 2008 World Champion Boston Celtics and the 'New' Bulls in 2009.

The Coming Out Party by Rose in Game 1 (36 points, 11 assists in playoff debut)

The Steal and Finish on Pierce by Noah.

The Clutch Shooting by Ben Gordon and Ray Allen.

All of the OTs...

Wouldn't that be a pretty sweet ECF?

I don't even want Miami anymore because the Bulls have already embarrassed them this year. The sooner they get eliminated- the better.

I really don't think Miami was "embarrassed" by the Bulls, all were close games. But the storylines are all there for either series. I just think Miami/Chicago would be mega huge.

I think that if the season ended with Miami losing in round 2 and the Bulls making the Finals after that 3-0 season series sweep then that would be a huge embarrassment for the Heat.

I mean, let's remember that LeBron James did choose Miami over Chicago... it would look pretty embarrassing for him for the season to end with the Bulls finishing way better than them. Hell, they CRIED after they lost to the Bulls and were the laughing stock of the NBA for weeks... that is what I would consider being embarrassed.

And let's also remember that Miami essentially celebrated their '7 or 8' championships that they are destined to win last July... that would add to the embarrassment of not winning. No matter who they lost to.

Hell, even the Brian Scalabrine thing is a nice little storyline to throw in there.

I know KG and Deng did not play. But hopefully they would both play if they met up again.

Lebron chose Chicago over every city in the league...all would have loved to have had him. I don't think he gives a damn about the Bulls like many Bulls fans believe. Its title or bust. Wade may have more feelings about Chicago than Lebron, but I think that is a Chicago-centric point of view. Boston looks like they are in freefall. They just lost again tonight. not good.

Yeah, but the point is (if Miami lost in the early rounds and Chicago went much deeper) that by choosing Miami over Chicago, it would make it appear as though James made the wrong choice in regard to wanting to win and/or over-estimating his odds of being dominant as a member of the Heat team.

I know there is more depth to that and it would only be temporary enjoyment if all of the sudden Billups and Tyson Chandler went to play with Miami next season.

Realistically, I think their expectations have been tempered over the course of the season. And I don't think there will be any regret after one season. It will take more than that. I seriously doubt if he will have any regrets come June based on this season alone. And they are in position to get the top seed still. So the season has not been a failure. Losing to Boston or Chicago is not worth panicking over. If they lose in the first round or lose to other teams...that is a different story...

While say a Chicago-Boston Conference Finals would indeed be epic (And would make oddly a childhood fantasy I use to play [I pretended I and my friends were on the Bulls and Celtics and would battle in the Conference Finals every year..starting in the 2010-11 season as we would all be rookies after 4 years of college]), I doubt it would be just like the 2009 First Round series. I just cant see that repeating itself. We might get some close games, but all in all I just don't see every game being epic like 2009 was (minus Game 3).

Celtics-Bulls would be great but at this point, even with the Cavs beating Miami tonight, I have a feeling that the ECF is looking more and more like Bulls-Miami.

Honestly, I feel A LOT more comfortable with the Celtics.
