Chris Campoli is also a RFA.
To me, the priorities are to bring back Campoli, Crawford and Frolik. Frolik has played really well IMO, but he seems a bit hexed for goals. I'd be very comfortable seeing the Hawks give him a 3-4 year deal - and hopefully the price wouldn't be bad given his goal scoring drought. I think he's going to have a really good career.
The Hawks need to get more physical, but at the same time I don't really care to see Brouwer back. Yeah he leads the team in hits... but he plays mediocre defense, is a poor passer (see his awful pass to Hossa on the near breakaway last night as an example) and goes in annual slumps that seem to last for months. The Hawks should shop him for a 2nd round pick IMO.
Ideally the Hawks would probably be better off going forward if they traded either Keith or Campbell. Both have very high salaries, play similar games, and combined with the cheaper Leddy and Campoli - it has left the Hawks defense far too soft. Or...gasp...trade Leddy for a tougher young SAH defensemen on his ELC, if such a trade is out there anywhere.
Keith isn't really movable. He has a NMC and won the Norris last year. Campbell probably isn't movable, with him only having to give a list of 8 teams he will go to. If he doesn't want to go anywhere, he can come up with 8 teams the Hawks either wouldn't trade him too (like the Wings) or teams that wouldn't or couldn't take him. So I don't know if this can be accomplished, but the Hawks do need to toughen up the defense and bring the $$$ commited to defense down if they want to get some forward depth again.
It wouldn't surprise me if Hjalmarsson was moved, though it can't happen until after a year has passed from the San Jose offer-sheet being matched. Hammer is the only well paid dman the Hawks are free to trade without NMC's or NTC's getting in the way.
