Just a few guys with ages on Opening Day

C Phegley (25), Flowers (28)
1b Abreu (27)
2b Beckham (27)
SS Ramirez (32)
3b Gillaspie (26) Keppinger (33)
LF Viciedo (25), De Aza (29)
CF Eaton (25)
RF Garcia (22)
DH Dunn (34), Konerko (38)

Catcher we are young and bad
1b we are young and unknown
2b young and average at best
SS Getting old and average
3b Whoa Momma! This is a hot pile right here
LF Young with potential still - I hope
CF Young and unknown
RF Young and unknown but a high ceiling
DH Very old and average

This is really hard to see what the 2014 team has. So many things need to go right. I will say this, the defense should be a lot better. I expect Ramirez and Beckham to return to form. I think the OF defense improves a ton when Viciedo is out of LF for De Aza. Boy we just don't look that solid.

Would anyone be surprised if we were the worst offense in the AL or performed above average in 2014?

The pitching still plagues me.
Sale is a stud.
Quintana does ok with his average stuff
Danks needs to be the Danks we signed him too. At least to be a solid #3
Johnson has a load on his shoulder as a rookie and #4 starter
#5????? Someone mentioned a Garza type guy. That would be great to put that type as our #2 and move everyone down one rank.

Bullpen is bullpen. We don't have the luxury to worry about it. As mentioned I like the idea of stocking it with flippable guys if any of them can pitch well from April thru Mid to late July.

This is going to be one long, long season. I think I am firmly in the camp of the worst is yet to come.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago White Sox
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Toledo Rockets
Catcher is the first priority, for now. Third base has plenty of suiters, and once Semien develops in Charlotte he should be the new starter.

I think with Beckham, they're just riding him out until Micah Johnson develops (if he ever does).

I agree that the defense should be a lot better, and I think the offense has a chance to be a lot better, but a lot rides on the development of Eaton, Abreu, Garcia, etc.

Overall, great analysis, Brett.

kinda common sense.

if "dh" is dunn and you are stating old and avg you would be 100% wrong.

He could be worse but I'm giving him the higher grade of average. You know you aren't objective here so just stop

Not to nitpick but Eaton just turned 25.

Otherwise, good stuff brett. :)

Btw, who's Koneroko? :troll:
