Pagano or no Pagano it's just hard to sustain going all in on Defense folks

2017 Jags defense was like the 2018 Bears. 6 pro bowlers and they dominated that year. The very next year became average and the following seasons soon after the Jags front office broke it all apart.

Heading into Week 15, the 2017 Jaguars lead the league in sacks (47), takeaways (30) and fewest points allowed (202). Should that hold for the remainder of the season, they will become the first team since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970 to lead the league in all three categories.

The very next year the Bears were 4th in points without getting any help from their offense. Thats way better than average.

But defenses dont stay at the top for long in todays NFL, which is why going all in on that side of the ball is a huge mistake unless you can pull off a SB.

They got a generational talent at the end of the rainbow. Will it happen for us?

Exactly. To have a great defense (one good enough to make the whole team good) you need very good players at every position grouping. DL/LB corps/secondary. That's a lot of moving parts, if one of the parts break or lower their level of play well then...your defense isn't so great anymore.

To have a great offense you need just one player, and that's a great QB. It helps to have another signature player to guarantee this like a good RB, or a good WR, but it's not a requirement. See the difference is you only need to sustain 1 player versus at least 5.

2016 Texans defense was just as dominant and they had no QB and the offense was just as bad as the Bears. Can't sustain going all in on D side. As these 3 once dominant defenses show, all one and done affairs

Except the Bears defense wasn't one and done.
