There are some interesting names on the list

-RRH looks like a really good player and having him as a RFA will ensure that he is cheap to keep or we get a pick.

-I thought O'Donnell had a nice game punting the ball.

-Callahan had a solid game in the slot and tackled well and maybe in line for an extension.

-Eric Kush bares monitoring. I didn't think he played as poorly as PFF did, but he is not a long term starter.

I think you keep:

RRH
Burton
Amos
Coward
Irving
Callahan

Kush is worth a look. But Daniels is the future.

We need to extend RRH an offer.

It would be an interesting move right now because you have him next year at about 2 million if you want him. Maybe you can get a really team friendly deal by giving him some cash now and buying our 18 and 19 which are cheap years for the Bears.

Cunningham might be another guy worth approaching with a 2 year modest extension.

RRH. Amos. Irving. Callahan. O'Donnel. Braunecker. Houston-Carson. Kush.

Only names I'd consider looking at on there if it was today.

RRH and Amos has earned an extension IMO.

Windy - what kind of contract is Amos going to demand? Believe it or not, he's pretty damn good.

100% depends on if this down year for safeties continues.

This season the S market was cratered

Ricardo Allen-3 years 19.5 million
Kurt Coleman-3 years 16.5 million
Morgan Burnett-3 years 14.5 million

I do not expect he would accept that, but that seems to be the top of the market.

The year previous Jonathan Cyprien and Barry Church both signed for 4 years 26 million.

I doubt we keep Amos. He's solid, but not sure he is worth the coin he will get. We keep Mega Punt, RRH, Irving for sure. Callahan I would like to keep.

I would like to see Coward get a couple of starts at the end of the season if they are not really in contention.

Massie is not coming back and Coward shows enough to get some prep.

Definitely some guys on that list that we can't let get away and i think Pace has a pretty good eye for which guys to keep or let go. RRH has stepped up so far this preseason and game one and has clearly passed up Bullard who was someone i was very high on after we drafted him but now i can barely see him making it through this year.

RRH
A.Amos
B.Callahan
E.Kush--good backup and played alright in his game one start.
B.massie--i like him more then most on here. He isn't great and is barely good but you can win with him as the starting RT and won't command a big salary.
Benny
I.Irving
R.Coward
J.Bellamy--that's my boy

Would love to see all these guys brought back and wouldn't mind seeing guys like Braunk, N.Williams and Burton back.

Pat O'Donnel had a good game against the Packers. I'd like to see him back

Next offseason will be a bloodbath for Pace. As good as this one has been, next will be a disaster.

18 players to roster with only 22 million in cap space. The usable cap space is probably somewhere around 20 million with a bare bones cushion to use during the season.

This requires Pace to acquire a starting RT (Massie), starting guard (Kush), the nickelback (Callahan), a starting SS (Amos), and a punter (Megapunt). The only in house option the Bears legitimately have right now is Daniels at guard/center (Whitehair to the other spot).

If the cap doesn't rise as much as expected, the cap situation in Chicago becomes a nightmare.

They will cut Simms but that money will have to all be 100 % allocated to Amos so the needle barely moves.

You go to 19 players to roster with 28 million in space right back to 18 players to roster with 22 million in space once Amos is signed.

i assume your using spotrac for the cap numbers...22 mill in space, take away 2 mill for draft pool and another few for emergency signings so i'd say about 17 mill in space without cutting anyone. As you said simm's money will be taken up by amos, cut acho and free up 2.5 mill leaving 19 players to be resigned using 19.5 mill. 19 players goes down to 10 since 4 will be draft picks and another 5 are all RFA so their numbers will be pretty cheap about 7 mill total i'd guess leaving 12.5 mill for 10 players which should be doable.

I think coward will be ready to replace massie next season, the guy has made tremendous progress in a very short period of time. If they really want to keep odonnell and callahan they can by keeping backloading their deals but who knows...
