A random thought I had about Giddey's extension...
If I was Giddey, presuming the Bulls don't bend on not giving him 30M+/year, I'd just take the QO, ball out next year, then go get overpaid in 2026 when more teams have cap space and being a UFA. There is of course the risk of injury and then getting screwed over, but in a situation where you have no leverage, bet on yourself.
Ironically, were Giddey to go down such a path, it would hilariously put the Bulls in a worse position if he plays well since playing well in the upcoming season leads to another season of mediocrity. If performing, now he's a UFA and Bulls have to overpay to try to keep him, and maybe he just walks. If Giddey sucks or gets injured, well now you can sign him for less, but now there's questions on if he's even worth that money...and he can still just leave if he wants. Basically, if Giddey goes at plays even just to the same level as he did this past season, he should be able to get the money he wants from some team, Bulls or otherwise.
But practically speaking, players usually want the security as well as the money, so maybe Giddey does end up settling for a more "team friendly" deal in the end this offseason.
