are not first round picks. They are 2nd, 3rd and 6th round picks. And outside of Peyton, look at all the highest drafted QBs this weekend ...

Luck (#1 overall) - beaten by 6th round pick
Newton (#1 overall) - beaten by 2nd round pick

Even Brees, who himself was not a #1 pick but is an elite QB, was beaten by a team with a 3rd round pick.

But #14 overall in the first round isn't high enough to get a QB you can win with?

Erm, with all the issues on D, the Bears better not be picking a QB in the first round. IF someone (QB) awesome drops to 14, then trade the pick for more picks and move on. We have holes to fill... Holes I tell you... Holes!

Not now that they gave Cutler the ludicrous contract they won't.

Fun facts: Did you know 3 of the 4 remaining teams are from west of the Mississippi and also the teams cities first letter is in the second half of the alphabet.

Is that of interest to you, or are you just desperately trying to cover up the fact that the Bears just blew their next three years by signing your favorite player instead of getting a young guy to compete with the better teams?

Two of the teams are lead by two of the greatest QB's to ever play the game. The other two have great defenses coupled with strong running games and mobile QB's. Draft status should be an afterthought once a player is in the NFL. If you can play, you play.
Draft value comes down to a GM's willingness to pay. Jay has gotten paid repeatedly. Right or wrong, he's here. Let's see what year two brings.

By the logic you're using.. The Bears can draft a QB in the 6th round, develop him and he'll be the next Brady. And ready to go after 3 more years of Cutler.

While I believe this is sound logic, I think it is a year away (seriously). I could be mistaken if they sense someone dropped with a load of unrealized talent this year or the can't resign McCown for whatever reason.

so from what you are saying, why are we drafting a qb at 14? Might as well draft one in the later rounds, which, I think they will do.

You know, I watched that Colts/Pats game, and all I can say is Luck: WTF?

Its like there is no short or intermediate routes in the playbook? Luck kept chucking downfield, downfield, downfield, over and over and over.

Meanwhile, Brady gets the ball, and carves up the Colts underneath, and only goes deep when its open.

Ugh, that was ugly.

The pats, seahawks and 49ers killed their playoff chances by drafting a guy to replace the underperformers in front of them....
The Pats screwed themselves after replacing their #1 overall QB Bledsoe..... wait... they went 3-0 in the postseason that year...
ok... that didnt apply.... But how about the 49ers, huh? They replaced their #1 overall pick and...... shit... they went to the superbowl.....
Well, still..... The seahawks were dumb to not even give the guy they paid millions of dollars to a chance last year... They might have won a few more games if they started the high priced free agent over the 500k a year Russell Wils.... wait....

Dammit... I do not understand. Everyone here says it is impossible to get better at QB unless you have the #1 pick. There is no way that talented well coached youngsters could possibly do anything except destroy the team.

We HAD to stick with Cutler, right? I mean, look at what happened to the broncos after letting him go.... never mind.

Ok, well at least we can all agree that there is no way Philly should have replaced the overall #1 Mike Vick with the 3rd rounder Nick Foles, right? That was pretty dumb for the eagles to waste a pick on him... right?

You gotta stick with the first round guy like the Giants did this year, cause that is the only way you can possibly win.

Right?
