Another stat. Only 1 heisman winning qb has won a playoff game in the last 20 years

I heard that today. It's worded wrongly. Vinny Testaverde won a playoff game 14 years ago. The stat is that of all the last 27 years of Heisman winning QBs, none have won a playoff game. Testaverde won his in 1986.

Kaep and Wilson have a great team around them, Luck does not. This is not a one on one player sport. If Luck could switch spots with either Kaep or Wilson, Luck would be playing next Sunday and the other would be sitting home.

That's your opinion. It's not necessarily true.

are not first round picks. They are 2nd, 3rd and 6th round picks. And outside of Peyton, look at all the highest drafted QBs this weekend ...

Luck (#1 overall) - beaten by 6th round pick
Newton (#1 overall) - beaten by 2nd round pick

Even Brees, who himself was not a #1 pick but is an elite QB, was beaten by a team with a 3rd round pick.

But #14 overall in the first round isn't high enough to get a QB you can win with?

Well, given that we just locked up a QB and need a shitload of defensive players, isn't this moot?

Wrong.

Tebow won one.

It is widely believed that Cutler would've received more guaranteed money on the open market (had he pushed for it) than his current contract. In addition, both Emery and Trestman have demonstrated unwavering support and belief in him through his resigning and the benching of McCown.

What does it say about your football evaluation ability, and the "6-8" number you threw out of your ass, when you proclaim with certainty an opinion that is at such odds with these accomplished professionals, who have forgotten more things about football than you will ever know?

It doesn't say anything because we don't know if their faith in Cutler will pay off or not. I love how you fanboys call coaches and analysts idiots when they do or say something you don't like, but when they sign your guy then they're absolutely infallible and nobody should question it. Idiot.

Aren't you doing the exact same thing?

1.) Who's dealing in absolute terms here? :doorrofl: Did I say they were infallible? No, I said they and the NFL market in general seems to value Cutler far above your opinion; and that they are much more knowledgeable than you are, would you like to contend with that?

2.) Fanboys calling analysts idiots? The only person using the word idiot is you, and the way you used it, i mean.... sublimely timed, so well done, you're terribly brilliant! :lmao:

Wrong.

Tebow won one.

Yes I know. I worded my last post wrongly. The distinction was when the Heisman was won compared to the playoff game being won. More than one Heisman winning qb has won a playoff game in the last 26 years but only one who won the Heisman in the last 26 years has won a playoff game.

Charlie Ward was a heisman winning qb and he won a playoff game in 2004. He won a lot of playoff games before that.

NFL playoff game being another distinction.

So fans should never question the decisions of any coaches or GMs because they know less than them. Great point. What the **** is the point in having a message board at all then?

Same as what?

This whole season you talked about trusting Phil & Marc to make the right decision about the QB then, the second they made the decision you didn't like, you said they just wasted at least 3 more years of the Bears franchise. It is almost literally the exact same thing you are accusing "fanboys" of doing.

No, I'm accusing fanboys of implying that people have no right to disagree with Emery based on the fact that he knows more. I have no problem with people agreeing with him or not agreeing with him.

So no, not even remotely close to the same.

I'm simply debunking your self proclaimed objectivity by highlighting the discrepancy between your evaluation of Cutler and those of much more knowledgeable individuals (both the Bears front office and the NFL as a whole). You claimed to know of 6-8 better players coming out of a single years draft, that's a fantastical claim to make when the current QB is paid as a premier guy at his position. Just admit, you're biased as hell!

Right. But your post said "none".

I understand the point is "a QB who has won the Heisman in the past 27 years", not "Heisman winner winning an NFL playoff game in the past 27 years."

I don't think you know what objectivity means. It does not mean having an even-keeled or neural opinion. It deals with how you come to the opinion, not what the opinion is.

Personally, I hate the whole, "They're in the NFL! They know more than you!" shit.

Josh McDaniels is in the NFL. When he thought it was a good move to draft Tim Tebow in the first round, should no fan have questioned that move or called it stupid? I mean, McDaniels was an offensive genius in New England. Clearly he knew more than any fan.

Or how about when the Jets gave Mark Sanchez an extension and a bunch of fans laughed at them. Who are fans to laugh? Their GM and Rex Ryan knew what they had in Sanchez. Wtf does anyone else know?
