Holy hell, another absolute steaming turd of a program in this series. This narrative was so disjointed, so terrible, and lacked so much focus it nearly made it unwatchable. I should have known I was in store for a painful hour of programming when the doc showed an interview with Dennis Eckersley from the 1988 LCS and they had it labeled as the NLCS, not the ALCS. Who the hell edited this thing?

The show couldn't decide if it wanted to a show about the earthquake, about the series being stopped, about human interest pieces in regards to the quake etc. What's the narrative? What's the point? For christ sakes, two people they had at the intro of it(chubby Asian lady and Arabic looking man) were never heard from again after the first five minutes. How can you introduce two people, have them start telling their personal stories from the day.....and then NEVER come back to them? What purpose did they serve? Why were they even interviewed? What purpose did the trapped motorist serve? What was the point of the doctors story and inclusion?

What role did baseball play in all this? The only connections I can seem to make from this film is that: a game was interrupted, Dave Stewart brought donuts and coffee to rescue and aid workers, and Will Clark said he had to do his civic duty to help out. Ok? You had 10 days between games, there wasn't a story to be told about the players helping the city dig out? What did the players do for those 10 days? How did they cope? How did baseball "heal the bay" if you want to drive that narrative?

As bad as last weeks "Playing for the Mob" was this one was infinitely worse. It was such an unfocused poorly edited cluster **** that it served no real purpose. It felt like I was watching a HD Google Hangouts of people talking about the earthquake with no point or focus.

Also have to add that McGwire and Canseco's wives/girlfriends shown in the doc at certain points in 1989 are the most sterotypical 80's looking rich coke whores ever.

Although I'd smash both of them.
