The Blackhawks have recalled Carter Hutton for tonights game against the Dallas Stars. Ray Emery will not dress due to flu-like symptoms.

Hutton, 26, signed with the Blackhawks on Feb. 24th 2012, he has a 17-9-3 record in 32 games for the Rockford IceHogs this season. He has complied a .915 save percentage along with a 2.50 GAA, widely credited for the IceHogs resurgence this season after Alec Richards and Alexander Salak have struggled.

Hutton is the eighth Blackhawk on the active roster from Ontario and has never played in an NHL game.

Good to see him get rewarded with a call up. Hopefully there won't be a reason for him to see ice time tonight.

Actually has nothing to do with the flu, its now an "upper-body injury"

I would love, love, love to see Carter play for a game in the Hawks sweater. And yes, he is ready.

Not sure about the ready part. This is not the AHL. Wouldn't mind them giving him a game but seeings how he played backing up Niemi for a month and never got a game I don't think they let him play. Specially with no back to back.

So...how about if Hutton hushes the Prudential Center crowd the way the ads always said E.F. Hutton did? Would be ironical. Grin

I'm game.

And with the games he has been playing in Rockford and how he has handled the mess presented to him when he came on board, how do you know how he will handle the situation until you test him. Now is as good a time as any.

you start him next game, and you basically tell Crawford he's nothing to us. He was wrongfully pulled in the last game, you can't replace him with the third stringer.

It depends on how you look at it. Here is another way,

If we are pretty solidly in the playoffs and there is a legitimate reason for Carter to be up there which it sounds like there is, you have a sit down with Corey and tell him you are looking at next year and want to see how the kid handles the situation. All the while you are putting Corey and Ray on notice that there is an alternative to the two of them. If Corey or Ray were to react in the wrong manner then that should be taken seriously when looking at options next season. Good players will rise to the occassion. I am telling you that Carter will be a positive spark for the goalies and I see the upside here not the downside.

LOL! You can't be serious can you? with someone who's not played ONE NHL game ever?

Come on. I can't read that and keep a straight face.

Remind me how many Kovalchucks there are in the AHL again? Pariese's? Cause that's what we are facing tomorrow night.
