Joel Quenneville believes that Jonathan Toews has been cleared for contact and skated this morning. Toews will not participate in tonight game against the Nashville Predators and has not traveled with the team yet but Joel Quenneville stated he was "hopeful" that Toews will return to the line-up before the end of the season.

The Blackhawks captain has complied 29 goals and 28 assists for a total of 57 points in 59 regular season games. Toews has missed 18 straight games where the Blackhawks have gone 11-5-2 in his absence.

They "believe" he was cleared for contact. I don't think he's with the team he skated back here in Chicago.

"Joel Quenneville said #Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews skated today. Coach believes Toews has been cleared for contact."

Toews, who last played on Feb. 21, didn't travel with the Hawks to Nashville for their game Saturday against the Predators, but he skated back in Chicago.

As for getting cleared for contact?

"I'm not positive, but I think so," said coach Joel Quenneville, who was awaiting a full report on Toews after the Hawks' morning skate Saturday.

did not participate in this mornings practice.

Yep, sorry I made that sound confusing. He's not with the team in Nashville.

Now that we have the playoffs squared away, I wouldn't skate him til the playoffs... Too risky... FAR too risky...

I disagree. If he's ready, he's ready. I'd get him in as soon as possible so he can get in game shape.

Even if teams like the Preds go headhunting? I don't trust having him in there against Nashville.

Minnesota x2 and Detroit, I'd love to see him in 2 of those. Nashville isn't an option.

If/when Toews is cleared to play, no need to wait for the playoffs. However, I would not mind seeing him centering a line of Mayers and Bolling if he returns for the regular season.

Quenneville believes he has been cleared for contact, doesn't sound official but this was the plan and there have been no setbacks.

I'd venture a guess he'll play in Minny and or Detroit. Gotta get him into a game BEFORE the playoffs start.

Hopefully Toews will get in a few games in before the playoffs start and that he's eased in on maybe a lower line instead of having him center the top line immediately. He will probably be pretty gassed the first couple of games before getting his legs back. Once he gets comfortable I could see him going into beastmode once the real games start.

has he had a practice with contact yet? thats the real first test if he hasn't. worrying about a game right now is premature if he hasn't even taken a hit in a practice setting yet.

Practices really don't have much contact TCD, so that will really come in his first game. Most likely Detroit.

I would take Detroit as his first game happily. No need to rush him now. Get him one game before the playoffs and im sure he will get enough rust off. its Toews we are talking about. The adrenaline of the playoffs is all the fuel Toews needs.

He's not even in Nashville how could that be possible?

I was talking about Minnesota... Clutterbuck goes headhunting, does he not? I'm worried a tad about how they'll treat him.
