Mitt Romney is facing criticism from some areas about his Mormon faith. John F. Kennedy faced similar questions about his Catholic faith. In 1960 he made a speech defending the separation of church and state. It is a really good speech that holds up well today.

And here I was thinking "don't ride in a parade anytime soon."

To me this is a much different set of circumstances. Jack, as a Catholic, was 'too close to the Vatican, an independent foreign nation'. Mitt is a follower of a religion that a lot of people think is not really a religion.

There is no question of Mitt's loyalty to America like there was with JFK.

Most of Americans don't even know what mormonism is. Once Romenybot gets the nomination, they will quickly get a lesson on it. The more pertinent questions should be, why does a persons religion or lack of even matter?

I agree with ya Rosh.

I was raised a Mormon, as many here know, and it is a religon. Based on Christ. It is a form of Christianity.

I am not a practicing Mormon anymore, however it is stupid to exclude anyone because of their faith or lack thereof.

While I don't think that it is right for me or anyone to tell someone what to do with their vote, my personal feeling is that if someone's religion is influencing how you vote, you're undermining the estabishment clause and the 1st amendment--and thus against something America stands for.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't recall Romney stumping hard on the fundamental christian issues, nor based on his Mormon faith. His platform has always been; I'm a buisnessman, former govenor and will make a better president than Obama.
