Phillip Danault and Mark McNeill's quest to become the newest members of the Chicago Blackhawks ended Tuesday, as both were sent down to their junior clubs.
The two youngsters participated in the Blackhawks' game versus the Edmonton Oilers in Saskatoon on Sep. 21, with different results.
McNeill was impressive in his debut, assisting on the tying goal by Jamal Mayers. McNeill made a pinpoint accurate pass to Mayers, who was waiting in the slot to bury the chance.
Danault was not noticeable on the ice, which may be a good or bad thing depending on your point of view.
The Blackhawks lost to Edmonton, 4-2, going 0-for-5 on the power play and surrendering power play goals against. Their next game is Thursday vs. the Pittsburgh Penguins.
McNeill will return to Prince Albert of the WHL, while Danault is going back to Victoriaville of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
