Steve Montador finally returned to the ice after suffering a concussion nearly one month ago. Although he has not joined the team in Detroit, he is skating in Chicago on his own terms. He has not appeared in any games since February 7th against the Colorado Avalanche.

Montador has missed 12 games due to the injury. While he's been gone, the Blackhawks have gone 6-6-0 in his absence. This season he has complied 5 goals and 9 assists in 51 games along with a plus-4 rating and 45 PIM.

Jonathan Toews still has not hit the ice since he was sidelined due to a concussion, but he is working out in Chicago. He has not appeared in any games since February 19th against the St. Louis Blues.

Missing 6 games due to the concussion, the Blackhawks have gone 3-3-0 without their captain. Toews has scored a team-leading 29 goals while adding 28 assists in 59 games along with a plus-17 rating.

Neither player has joined the team on their road trip and no timetable is set for either of them. However, Niklas Hjalmarsson is a possible card for Joel Quenneville tonight against the Detroit Red Wings.

I'm pretty sure they have to pass the test before taking the ice. Good news for Montedor and shows how it can swing the other way. Last I heard he was no where near coming back.

Sure JT is right around the corner.

Very good news, absolutely.

We'll have a pretty good d-core with Keith, Seabs, Leddy, Montador, Hammer, Oduya if they are all healthy... not to mention Olsen waiting in the wings and Lepisto showing he can play. Plenty of options back there. O'Donnell can keep the press box warm for the rest of the year. If we can get healthy before the playoffs begin we'll surprise a lot of teams for sure.

I think they can skate without passing the test. They can only be cleared for contact after passing the test.

I don't think they can take the ice without passing the test. And there is more than one test. Physical and cognative.

Before you return you start by working out. That's your first test. Thus JT has been working out. Once that is complete, you THEN take the ice.

I thought you meant the Bike test. You know, that real gruelling motherfucker.

That's part of the physical test. You pass that before taking the ice. There is a old thread around here where Seabrook explained it all to me.

The Cognitive test is just as bad. You take that at the beginning of the season, along with the Physical testing. That's what you pass before "contact" on the ice.

I was told there would be no math.

One of the new tests they are experimenting with the players to see if the consussion symptoms are gone is they hold a picture of Lou holding a stanley cup, If the players show the look of dissappointment, they are not ready to step on the Ice, but if they laugh hysterically, then they are ready.

I still think hes going to be weeks away from playing. what about Monti and Hammer??

I think you are wrong in the "weeks" guess, and Hammer wants to play tomorrow night.

Nothing on Montidor that I saw but both he and Carcillo were at Johnny's.

Lepisto "Q, will be out for awhile". Probably ACL.

Yeah the part of that statement after the elipsis bothers me. It sounds as though he is still feeling something and is considering coming back anyway.
