The Chicago Blackhawks finally scored a power-play goal... wait scratch that... two power-play goals. Yes, it's a miracle on ice as they went on to clinch a playoff berth after defeating the Nashville Predators 5-4 in regulation.

The Hawks initially built a four goal lead until mid-way through the 2nd period where the Predators chipped away, eventually tying the game mid-way through the 3rd period 4-4. The Predators played meat and potatoes hockey once again and the Blackhawks paid dearly, especially Crawford, who had plenty of bodies in front of him for the last half of the game and had to deal with a dangling Radulov.

Thankfully enough, Andrew Shaw responded by sending a perfect feed cross-ice to a wide open Brent Seabrook to seal the game away in regulation and gave the Blackhawks their fourth straight playoff berth as Crawford shut the door the rest of the way.

The biggest story of this game has to be effectiveness of the power-play, which managed to go 2-for-6 in the game as well as pelting Pekka Rinne with eight shots. Lets face it, the power-play is not perfect and they had many failed opportunities but as I've said in the past, as long as the power-play can match the penalty-kill in production than we will win the game 5-on-5.

Of course, while we scored two power-play goals we also allowed two goals shorthanded. As long as it cancels each other out, this team can be as good as any when it comes to 5-on-5 hockey. Although a productive power-play is a nice hook to hang your hat on, as long as they can get the job done on either the PK or PP on any given night the rest will come through.

This has to be one of the more difficult games of the year to pick the Blackhawks three stars, because there were so many positives to take out of it despite blowing a four goal lead.

Niklas Hjalmarsson might have had one of his best games as a Blackhawk at both ends of the rink. Him and Seabrook took care of business at their own end while Hjalmarsson also sprung Patrick Kane with a beautiful "Hail Mary" pass which he was able to tuck past Rinne.

Viktor Stalberg is another one that is worthy of honorable mention after dominating with his speed once again and finishing a puck from behind the goal line. The line of Stalberg, Kruger, and Sharp continue to build on their hot streak and combined for 3 points on the night.

As far as Dave Bolland, what more can you say about him? This is the time of year that the "rat" comes out for spring cleaning and oh boy is he finding all the cheese. Another goal tonight and 6 points in his last 8 games.

Despite all the success most of the team has had, I have to pick three. Who would you choose?

BLACKHAWKS THREE STARS OF THE GAME

1. Patrick Kane

2. Brent Seabrook

3. Andrew Shaw

Good win, but didn't like they gave up 4 unanswered goals and so close to each other. Anyways, PLAYOFFS!

Q did a great job of exhausting his players tonight.

"Great game"?!

WTF game did you watch? Sure they won, and that's fine and dandy, but I'd be reaming them a new one for coughing up a four goal lead....

They scored first and held on, to beat a team that has beat them all season other than the 1st meeting.

I understand wanting to beat the Preds and to send a message but yah Q ran his lines awkward all night. And that time out in the first period was pathetic. Why call a time out when you are winning the period? Could have used that time out once the Preds started kicking our asses in the 2nd period and the guys were looking beat. Dumb time out waste by Q.

Got the 2 points and clinched though so that's all that matters but it wasn't pretty after that 1st period. Those Preds are good.

Oh by the way the officiating that game was brutal.

It was brutal. And agreed about the time out. Could have used it when Bickell iced it twice.

And if Q didn't use it when he did...and the Preds scored...people would be crying on why didn't he use it.

Did someone on the ice need the time? Maybe someone was banged up on the long shift and said to take it?

So he's found the lines where all 4 are clicking...he's getting great matchups - on the road nonetheless, proving why he is one of if not the best when it comes to matching lines/putting players in the best position

I have no complaints with Q the last month or so. He's done a great job with limited resources. Not many teams can lose their 1st line C and captain for over a month, and 1st pairing defenseman, and 2nd line C, and #5 defenseman, and #4 defenseman, and 4th line C, and back-up goaltender for stretches in the month while still having one of the best records in the NHL during that span.

Yup, Gotta give Q credit. No matter where the influence has come from. Zero problems with him. And the 11-2-2 record says volumes.

Someone on twitter <won't name him> bitched at Q for calling the time out when he did last night. Seriously? The fucking team was gassed on what I thought was a terrible icing call. It was a damn good time out. Sorry they don't allow you more than one for those games where it may benefit.

Hindsight is a beautiful thing. If the Preds had scored after that icing and Q didn't call a timeout everyone would ***** about that too. We won, scored 2 PP goals, and clinched our 4th straight playoff berth... who cares!! Again, great game. That was playoff hockey!

I missed the game, Was at my friends memorial. Glad we picked up the win though, but looking at TOI, looks like some people are likely gassed.

and why not exhaust them? Not only sending a message to a division rival and possible playoff opponent, but also trying to clinch a berth so they dont have to be so exhausted the next 3 games....

That's what happens in a 82 game season when you are missing two players that average 20 TOI and 27 TOI. Others step up.

the almost 7 minutes of PP for Seabrook didn't help his 31 TOI, but he'll over come.

They have a very valid chance at Home Ice in the first round. Why not go for it? I'm sure the players don't mind, it's what they do.
