Jimmy Hayes has been recalled from Rockford after the Blackhawks have gone 1-7-1 in his absence. In 13 games this season, Hayes has posted 3 goals and 4 assists along with a minus-1 rating for the Blackhawks, while notching 7 goals and 16 assists in 33 games for Rockford in his first pro season.

In his place, Andrew Shaw sees himself returning to Rockford after a 19 game stint with the Blackhawks. During his visit, he posted 5 goals and 4 assists along with a minus-7 rating. In 33 games for the IceHogs, Shaw has scored 12 goals and 9 assists along with 80 PIM.

With Shaw seeing his ice-time drop in the last 10 games, coupled with a poor performance against the Rangers, it's no surprise to see the Blackhawks switch up their options with so much youth in the system. Although Shaw's effectiveness has dropped game-by-game, his future with the Blackhawks remains brighter than ever, from being drafted in the 5th round last year to his debut to the NHL merely 6 months later.

Hayes will provide the Blackhawks with the big physical presence they lack without taking away from the youthful exuberance that Shaw displayed. Hayes will be hard-pressed to find time on the top two lines, but has shown in his past call-up that he could be effective with Dave Bolland.

Just were talking about shaw and a lot of guys predicted this would happen or suggested it.

Ill admit i wasn't all for it even though i like both shaw and Hayes. I simply don't like a revolving door like this unless injuries are involved.but i totally understand the reasoning and this is why the farm is there. Shaw was obviously going to slow down but its getting too late in the season to not have some roster stability. Just my opinion. I welcome Hayes back happily.

It's not a reflection on Shaw's standing in the organization, it's just more to generate a spark more than anything. With Shaw's play lately, he was expendable. Would he have pushed through that wall he hit? I think so, but the Hawks aren't in a position to wait for anyone.

Hayes back, Scotty out of the press box, one BIG win under our belt: we're on a roll! Really: Shaw isn't ready for the bigs just yet. What's the story on Carcillo?

It's unlikely Carcillo will play this season, so count him out. I'd like him to get another chance next year, however.

Carcillo is better than both but that Special person decided to blow his knee out and get suspended at the same time.
