The best two playoff spots are obviously the top two so that those team have one less playoff game to play. However, after that is it possible the best playoff position in the NFC is the fifth spot (top wildcard)?

Here's the theory. While that team won't have a home game in all likelihood, they start out playing the winner of the NFC West which is the most friendly opponent available. After that, the experience isn't that much different than it would have been otherwise.

Discuss.

It's a better week 1 matchup, but then you have to go play the team off the bye likely Atlanta unless their upset and you play at GB, NY,or Philly.

It's hard to say, is the 5th seed looking better than the 3rd seed, possibly for the wild card round but not beyond that.

You're going to have play a team off the bye anyway, and given that the other wildcard team is likely to be very good, there's no guarantee you don't get the lower seed in the next round anyway.
