The Hawks will be looking to bounce back and take one home from the Coyotes. The Hawks defensively will need to tighten things up with fewer turnovers in their own zone and play a sixty minute game.
Crawford’s effort in game one should be good enough to earn the Hawks a victory if he can replicate that performance in game two.
Offensively there is not much more they can do but put the puck in the net; the Hawks out shot the Coyotes 45 to 34. If they can find some patience with the puck, go high on Mike Smith in goal, and the point men find some lanes to the net then the Blackhawks could dominate this one considering the Coyotes also had 27 block shots. The Hawks have all the tools to take this team out but it will not happen without patience and smart play.
“We know what mistakes we made last game and we’re ready to make changes for this game,” Toews said. “For the most part I think it’s just simplifying things and relaxing. We know it’s going to be a fast paced game and we want to bring that energy and fast skating game. But it doesn’t mean we have to try too much or do too much with the puck.”
According to Coyotes head coach Dave Tippett, 30 goal-scorer Radim Vrbata will make his return to the line-up after suffering an injury early in the 1st period of game one after taking a hit from Andrew Shaw.
Jesse Rogers also stated that Joel Quenneville will not release his line-up until game-time.
Prediction: CHI 3, PHX 2 GO HAWKS!
