And a link to the countdown clock that Activision sent out-- findmakarov.com

I don't really care about it, but I know a lot on here play Call of Duty still.

Interesting turn of events. Activision says that countdown timer is a hoax.

Kotaku, the Gamer

"There seems to be a great deal of speculation about the next Call of Duty project. Let me be clear that we are not revealing yet," a spokesperson told Kotaku. "Anything indicating otherwise is a hoax."

They're keeping it close to the vest, but I still see MW3 coming out this year

Yeah there's going to be a Call of Duty every year. Activision sure knows how to make money. They're wanting a Treyarch COD game one year, then another Modern Warfare game the next year. Modern Warfare 3 is being developed by 3 companies instead of just Infinity Ward. Raven Software (Singularity, Quake 4) and Sledgehammer are helping IW on MW3. The thing about Sledgehammer is that according to rumors they stopped development of their "Futuristic Call of Duty" game to help out on MW3 just to make sure it's released this year.

Yeah that's right, "Futuristic Call of Duty" game. That means you'll have Treyarch's game, Infinity Ward/Raven Software's game, and Sledgehammer's game. Can you say Guitar Hero?

Here's Sledgehammer's "games" section of their website-- Sledgehammer Games | Our Games

Nothing on Raven's website.

I get hooked because it's so much fun to play w/ friends. NCAA games suck, but w/ friends they're great IMHO

With Activision announcing that it's "counter productive" to make a new engine for MW3, I'm suddenly really considering not buying Modern Warfare 3 or any other COD games after that. Activision only cares about making money off making poorly made COD games over actually improving the game and giving people something to look forward to.

After seeing what DICE's new engine for Battlefield 3 looks like, I'm very disappointed at Activision's laziness and complacency.

Same for me. Sounds just like when Treyarch stuck with the COD4/World at War engine for Black Ops instead of making a new engine. I won't complain if MW3 uses the MW2 engine though, because I felt MW2 ran much smoother and felt more fluid than the Black Ops/COD4/World at War engine. But it'll still be pretty cheap of them to not make a new engine. COD is beginning to feel like a sports title, in that it feels the same every year, just with a few changes.

But I guess Infinity Ward couldn't have made a new engine anyways since about everybody either quit or was fired.

they need to stop for awhile..

I know the masses will eat it up but these games have really lagged on good gameplay.

Definitely going with Battlefield 3. Such a better game.

If MW3 is anything like the other 2 then count me in. I havent seen anything on BF3. Then again, i never look into video games before they come out.

MW3 will have to look out of this world awesome for me to buy it. They need to make some big changes, but I doubt it happens with the success they've been having with the same old shit.

You know that they won't make many changes. As long as people are buying the games, they aren't going to change.
