Jim Thome Watch

For those fans who ripped the White Sox for getting rid of Thome ( i was one of them) let's look at his numbers.

AB HR AVG RBI R SB
159 9 .252 30 16 0

Dunn really isn't that much better and much younger, But Thome comes with a 3,000,000 price tag compared to Dunn's 12,000,000.

And a .252 average is a lot better than something in the .100s

I'm almost tempted to suggest adding his SO numbers. But that may put a few fans over the edge.

With how bad he's been this year, he HAS to be better next year. No doubt about it. But how much better is what we'll have to see about.

If he doesn't do better next year than he's done this year, then he should be released immediately.

cant really blame the staff for trying to get him when you see his track record of being a consistent high power, high OPS guy

maybe he's having trouble adjusting to being a DH in a new order, new ballpark, etc.

idk...its really puzzling just how bad he's been

doubt this will continue for much longer imo

Just pay him to play somewhere else? This isn't the NFL, big cat...The Sox would still be on the hook for the remainder of his contract.

I still see him being a 40 HR guy in the following years.

There aren't many other options out there so the Sox have to stick with Dunn and hope that this season was just because of the new league, stadium, pitchers, and order in lineup and being a DH. In the next few years hopefully he will fully adjust and be a good DH for the Sox.

he goes from his career numbers every year, and bam...hits a wall.

I see better things to come next season. you guys can blame KW for signing a guy who has had a great career ( same fans that were stroking KWs **** when we signed him ) but if you are going to write him off, dont jump back on when he plays to his career next season.

Dunn is paid to smack it out of the park. Strikeouts are common for these types of players. Look at Frank Thomas' numbers. He just hasn't adjusted to being a DH. I will tell you he prob needs to step up the cardio and hit the weights a little more. Couldn't hurt and he has put on some bad weight since he left Cincinnati.

LOL, you made me look Frank Thomas' numbers up. I remembered Frank Thomas being one of the best hitters in baseball because he hardly ever struck out.

Here's some numbers below to compare.

Adam Dunn: ( 11 seasons)
Total Games to date :1544 ( 2011 Season 96 )
Total SO: 1744 (2011 Season 142)

Jim Thome ( 21 Seasons)
Games Played : 2450 (2011 Season 58 )
Total SO : 2449 (2011 Season 54 )

Frank Thomas: (19 Seasons)
Total Games : 2322
Total SO : 1397

No attack on you Jwmann, I just thought i was drinking too much at those Sox games and missed a bunch of strikeouts so I had to look it up.

I could rip KW a new asshole for this move... and the past 3 years worth of moves... but I'll let that rest for now.

Regardless, I really don't see Dunn going back to his career numbers next year. His bat speed is INCREDIBLY slow... almost like he was taking roids or HGH the past few years and is now off of it. I can't fathom him suddenly regaining his bat speed in the offseason.

Honestly nobody thought that Dunn would be this bad. Sure, some thought he wouldn't be great but nobody thought that he would be on pace to have the worst average ever by a MLB player. This wasn't a bad move by KW, but yet again good hitters come to Chicago and become worse. Hmm...
