Now my name is M.C.A, I've got a license to kill. I think you know what time it is it's time to get ill. Now what do we have here... an outlaw and his beer... I run-this-land-you-understand, I make myself clear?

I wasn't too familiar with the band, which character did he play in the Sabotage video?

Beastie Boys were like one of those groups that even if you didnt love their music you always got a great show. When they performed live, they just looped songs into one another and the show never stopped.

Beastie Boys Licensed to Ill and LL Cool J Radio were the first CD's I ever bought.

Sooooooo strange.

I have been listening to the Beastie Boys for 4 days straight... I am talking non stop. Not sure why but on Monday I decided to download their discography as I hadn't listened to them in a long time and I was in the mood. Forgot how much i loved them.

Then I wake up to this news today? What a shitty day. MCA was my fav hands down in the group. I knew he was fighting cancer for some time now. Terrible news. he faught hard though and boy did he leave a mark in this world.

RIP MCA!!! You will never be forgotten.

For your afternoon listening...

What a great album. So funny how it didn't do well when it was first released.

The Beastie Boys story is really pretty fascinating. I spent today watching old doc. films on the group and interviews etc. Forgot how much I really liked them and what they do.

at the 3:40 mark Adam throws out some of my fav lines and some of my fav vocal beats.

My fav vocal rythme of his is in his song Bodhisattava Vow. Only vid on youtube is the live performance but it doesn't do it justice with the poor recording. Unbelievable what he does in that song though...

I was never a fan of the Beasties..listened to them, but wasn't one to run out and buy their music. However, they were pioneers in their own right and blew the then accepted music industry on it's ass. He will be missed.

If anyone has not seen their 2012 RRHoF Induction, you really should.

Quoted bold for truth...

LOOKING DOWN THE BARREL OF A GUN, SON-OF-A-GUN, SON-OF-A-*****, GETTING PAID GETTIN RICH... <WHAM WHAM>

Beastie Boys are always on my Poker play lists and such. It is a shame he didnt get to go to his induction though. Not too bad for a bunch of kids who tried to break into Punk, failed, and fell into Hip Hop, changing the genre forever.

By the way, did you download or get The Five Buroughs?

Might actually be my fav Beasties Album.

We Got The

Ch-Check It Out

Rhyme The Rhyme Well

Triple Trouble

All are unbelievable and hit my top Beasties songs. There was a wise maturity to the album and they started adding a little bit more spirituality and politics into it (something I know they tried to be subtle about in the past) Adams voice and lyrics and rythmes are so gruff and they sticks out so well. I think he really hit it out of the park though and dominated the album. I believe it to be his best material on the 5 Buroughs myself.
