Will that one day of rest that early in the season really be that much of an advantage for the lions? I would think home field would be more of an advantage. The lions also face some disadvantages in that game also.
1) New OC/DC. How long will it take for the lions to gel?
2) Inexperience in their interior OL. How long will it take the young players to get up to speed? Not to mention the caliber of players they will be replacing.
3) DL, both DEs are coming off of injury. Will they be back to full speed by week two? Top DT will also not be playing in that game.
4) 30th ranked pass defense. lions still trying to figure it out at corner.

ncuck told me they have a 6th round pick who played 2 games who is already an all pro

they should clearly be fine

The lions offense is going to regress and that defense did very little to improve. They needed a pass rush and drafted a DT who just stuffs the run and does very little against the pass. awesome

There's more to it in this instance. Monday night teams should always have their next games at home or they lose a 2nd day traveling. Maybe not a practice day but makes it that harder to recover, reset and mentally prepare. Thur. night games should be after byes etc. These are doable things that the league just ignores and should be part of the next collective bargaining agreement. Not sure how injuries figure in but shorter weeks can't help.

The Lions seem to think rest is a big deal. They definitely did not use all the offseason practices they could have. They did not even have a minicamp. As they are in the hall of fame preseason game, they could bring in veterans on the 16-July (like the Chargers), but instead are just doing the 19th.

I will just say I think it's weird when you have had so much change in your coaching staff, replacing both coordinators and other key assistants that you would not take advantage of any extra time you could to work with your team.

I thought Dallas was another one that was weird. Now I know they promoted from within, but as they did have a new HC, they could have done that voluntary minicamp ahead of the draft and they chose not to.

I find it interesting with normally how much coaches complain about the offseason rules and limitations when they then don't use all the available practice time they could.

I would think non-contact OTAs have players better prepared against injury early during camp both physically and anticipatory.

The lion trolls on this site are delusional. The lions clearly are not as good a team right now as they were a year ago at this time. I think the lions are behind the curve when it comes to IDL play. OCs are calling more quick-game passes than ever before and the counter to that is quick inside pressure backed by press coverage. This offseason the Bears have added two 3Ts and a DE who can slide inside to go along with Dex. The lions have added two NTs Williams and Lopez along with Reader. Even at his best McNeill plays like a quick NT not a true 3T.

With the SOS the Bears have this season he absolutely will have to earn that contract. To be honest, I think he can.
By the end of the year, that S.O.S. will look less intimidating... because we beat so many of those highly ranked teams. RAWR!

Imagine a Bear's fan, who have been the doormat of the North, calling a Lions fan delusional. How did that work out for you last year? The Lions are most definitely a better team than they were at mid-season last year. Let's see, last year at this time you were calling Jamo and Campbell a bust, Zeitler a downgrade, and didn't even know who McNeil was. Not to mention, you were calling Gibbs a third down only RB.

LOL at a Lions fan calling the Bear a doormat after a very short stint of success. The Lions are in an extremely small group that has never even appeared in a SB.

Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, and Jacksonville Jaguars.

👏

Oh get over yourself already.
The Bears have won one SB, more than 40 years ago.
Big fucking deal.

Bears fans only...............unless you are ready to admit to being one, get lost. Plus, not one thing I said in my post was wrong. Just the facts.

The only advantage Detroit has is that they’re so used to wearing paper bags on their heads that they already know which size paper bags to buy the fat chicks they bang
I think you are confusing the city of Detroit with the state of Wisconsin.

Actually, that list was of the teams that have never even been to a Superbowl. It is a bigger list for the teams that have never actually won a Superbowl. So, in that context, the Bears run in 2006 is relevant. So, way less than 40 years ago, it would be 19 years. Still too long ago, but pertinent.
