The guy was with Seger forever and very talented. A friend of mine knows a guy who grew up with Alto (maybe a relative, I don't remember) and got back stage passes years ago. Said he was a great guy, a bit eccentric, and fun to be around. He added a lot to some classic Seger tunes.

I always thought the best rock Sax players were Bobby Keyes, Clarence Cleamons and Alto Reed

Alto Reed's sound on those Seeger songs like Mainstreet and Turn the Page were haunting

You are a lot more fun when you stick to music.

Not too many Rock sax players these days..Mostly Jazz
Keyes could get jazzy and then really swing. Here is an example of Keyes going jazzy. Keyes comes in at 3:00 then he plays off of the great Mick Taylor

****The side note on this song was it was intended to be under 3 minutes and the rest of the band stop playing, but Taylor just keeps going, so the band picks up their instruments and jumps back in. At 4:40 Taylor really shines and goes Carlos Santana on the song

There is no sax on the studio version of Mainstreet

@Omeletpants shares his favorite music with people 30 years younger than him on the internet, just as he brags on said internet, because during the time when it was appropriate to share this now outdated offal with his peers, they were in country and he was sucking dick in a Toronto alley
