After reading the wiki article on this case, it would appear the prosecutions case was ridiculously weak sauce, i am amazed she got convicted the first time.

The guy thats in jail was probably the only killer. His bloody hand prints and finger prints were all over place, yet not so much as a partial fingerprint of anyone else in the room.

What convicted them the first time was the alleged DNA of knox's boyfriend on Kerchers bra clasp, and alleged Kerchers DNA was on a knife in Knoxs Bf's house with Knoxs handprints on the handle.

but apparently the DNA tests in more than just these items were botched and the results were really inconclusive.

I just find it dubious, aside from those 2 articles of DNA evidence, its like they were never in that room. I find it dubious, because if you rape and kill a girl like that, find it highly unlikely that is all you would leave behind, and if you were good enough to clean it up that well, I would think you arent stupid enough to keep the murder weapon where the cops can get it(and the knife in the appeal was concluded to be too big to have made the wounds in kercher). especially when the alleged third accomplice, guede, basically left enough evidence behind that it looked like he danced in her blood following the incident.

I really honestly dont think those 2 had anything to do with it.

I know they wanted it to be some crazed tabloid drama melrose place style murder, but I think the reality is, some lowlife followed her home, raped and murdered her.

Convicted the first time because of the media celebrity...and that there has to be someone guilty (like in da states).

However, the prosecution can appeal. Luckily for Amanda, she left the country this time.

Also the thing is Guede the guy currently serving 16 years, even after exhausting his appeals, meaning, hes serving his sentence and ain't getting out, has NEVER fingered them as being involved.

The foresnic evidence in this case was incredibly weak and wouldn't have stood up in the US.

The only thing this trial showed the world was how inept the Italian investigators and justice system actually is.

The forensic evidence would not have stood up in alot of countries, including Britain where the victim was from. Italy is known for jumping all over the "primary suspect(s)" and quick-pushing cases through for conviction like this, judicial process and legitimate evidence be damned.

I have been following this story for some time now and read quite a bit about it. I decided a while ago not to start a thread just because no one else was so I didn't think anyone would want to talk about it at length.

Here is the real crime in all of this; the italian courts actually allowed the prosecutor Mignini to try this case again. There is a pretty good book on him "The Monster of Florence" for how he did the same thing to suspects of other crimes, calling them sadists involved in sexy orgies that end in murder. Wrongfully accusing, imprisoning, and interrogating many others to suit his need to find a killer because the evidence couldn't.

http://www.thewrap.c...r-florence-2354

This motherfucker, Guiliano Mignini is truly evil and needs to be locked up. So far he has proven to be very powerful, but I believe his wrongful imprisonment of Amanda and Rafaelle will lead to him finally being dealt with.

Quoted from the article:

The powerful state prosecutor behind all this was a man named Giuliano Mignini, Public Minister of Perugia, who headed a branch of the Monster investigation.

Spezi’s arrest generated an international uproar, led by the Committee to Protect Journalists and other freedom of press organizations. He was released after 23 brutal days in prison; Mignini was then indicted for abuse of office. And yet, in Italy, an indicted prosecutor is not automatically removed from office. Mignini remained (and remains) in power.

The evidence against Guede was pretty strong; DNA evidence in the room, inside the victim, flees the country. He's the murderer IMO.

I agree. I can't believe that the Kircher family cannot accept that and are still looking for more people...all based on the bullshit flung around the courtroom and in the press by Mignini.

Get a clue people, how often do you find a crime scene with no evidence of additional people, suddenly have two more suspects that 'must have' committed the crime?

Its like a third grader investigated this crime, damn.

You would probably have to wait until a family member of yours is murdered and then you will understand their so called irrational thoughts.

Well, when the prosecution says it must have been multiple people, it sewed the seeds in their mind. They will probably never get it out of their heads.

Nope. I would have never believed any of the very public notions this tool Mignini concocted to explain Meredith's death.

and anyone who takes more than a cursory glance knows that Mignini is a fucking liar. He's been indicted for these lies for fucks sake.

Being from the Seattle area, this story has had continuous coverage since she was arrested. The scary thing about this whole affair is, if she wouldn't have been an American with parents and friends who were vigilant in keeping pressure on Italian officials, which caused the non-stop media coverage to continue even after her original conviction & appeal, and, instead, had been just an average Italian citizen, she still would, probably, be rotting away in prison.

Nancy **** says she's guilty, she must be guilty.

Did she really? I actually think she would be one of the people that would be bitching and screaming about the way the Italians handled this case. And rightfully so.
