Amazon can be tricky, good for hard to find items but can be brutal on shipping charges.

It's seriously awesome. I bought a swing set for my daughter for Christmas that would have cost a fortune to ship. The box had to be at least 10 feet long and weigh around 200lbs. Free 2 day shipping. And that's just one item...I order a ton of stuff from them, so I'm coming out waaaay ahead on that deal.

No. You can use any of your credit cards to pay for Amazon Prime. Its $79/year. Often times they'll have deals/specials on it for the first year. For years I got away with still being a college student at $39/year...but Amazon finally found out.

Just make sure they are a Prime item. A lot of stuff is, but some isn't. For example if it's a 3rd party seller, most of those items are not prime. There should be a little prime logo on the product detail page if the product qualifies for free 2 day shipping.

Love amazon, but since I live in Indiana amazon now charges me sales tax. which is pure shit.

I love Amazon Prime and have had it for two years now. If it can wait 2 days then I dont need to go shopping. I just looked to see how many orders I had this year and the number was 41. Oh yeah, I will be a prime member again this year.

I don't know why I haven't pulled the trigger on signing up for prime yet...I use amazon enough that I could make up for the cost with the shipping benefits. Just had a Nest Thermostat delivered today that I bought through amazon...can't wait to set that ***** up.

I was going to get a Nest but my HVAC guy who put in my new AC and furnace this summer warned me against them, recommended a Venstar Colortouch I believe it was.
Have not gotten a new one yet, but I would be interested to hear how it works for you.
