My boss is a former airforce pilot. He said they were great but the rounds would jam frequently and overheat. They would be dangerous when they landed after that happened and they had to actually destroy the whole cannon.
They just can't permanently retire those bad boys (I spent a large part of my Air Force Career supporting those).</p></blockquote>
The capable replacement is probably too expensive. Just amazing how long these have been in service. Back in my infantry days those ******* would nail us hard before we even saw them, or when we did, they were just so freaking nimble we could not run and hide.
