Shaw was kind of the tension breaker of these playoffs for me. The guy you wanted to watch to see what he would say and do next. He was having the time of his life and it showed on and off the ice.

Definition of hockey?

From a guy who served a six game suspension in Rockford during the lockout, to playing with the parent club to winning Lord Stanely with his teammates. Incredible story. I saw his tenacity before he hit the ice in Chicago. Been a fan since his Rockford stint earlier in the season.

His play on the ice defintely gained some wisdom as the season progressed as well.

Shawzie's Six Game Suspension in Rockford. Defending his teammate Olsen who is mugged...

Bordeleau, who initiated the scrum after the horn and jumped Olsen from behind, received a game misconduct Saturday but no further discipline from the AHL. The fact that he was on the ice when the trouble started has much to do with the lack of a suspension.

Does Shaw's NHL history factor into the AHL's sentence? It's food for thought, but Shaw did leave the bench and ambush Bordeleau. He was coming in to defend Olsen, but there is little disputing the fact that Shaw deserves some time off.

I will say this: Shaw still has the stones he did last year with Rockford and the Blackhawks. The kid is 5'10" and was more than ready to tangle with the 6'6", 240-pound Bordeleau. Taking on a big veteran who knows how to use his fists shows moxie if not a lot of discipline.

It all comes from his parents. What a bunch of really cool folks. To the adversity of being passed up twice in two drafts to being key in this teams Stanley Cup run... Mr. Shaw brought 30 friends and family in for Saturday nights game.

As for play. Warrior....

his Mom was hilarious after he was suspended for hitting Smith the previous years first round. Spitfire....! Shanny suspends him again he better watch out..

I'm also not sure if Smith doesn't break his wrist that last game in Rockford before the lockout ended if he doesn't get the call to Chicago.

Stan Bowman should probably have his own thread. Gotta give him the props he deserves for just some outstanding moves in not only retooling the team after the Cap disaster he partially caused, but adding the key components so paramount for this accomplishment.

This Cup, is Stan Bowmans..... No question.

I had never seen Shaw play before we drafted him.

Once we drafted him I read up on him and saw some videos on youtube. I was impressed and a fan of his eagerness to not only fight, but to take on ANYONE. There are video's of him going against Richard Greenop (ex-Blackhawk prospect) and Jared Tinordi; both men over 6'4 and 215 pounds. The fact that Shaw was willing to go with them despite his stature impressed me.

I remember getting into a discussion about why this was a good pick because Shaw brought a bit of skill to his game. Ton completely disagreed with me (I will never let you live this down) and pointed out other players who were Memorial Cup leading scorers who never panned out. Shaw though, brought an intensity that many of those players didn't have.

With where he is and how far he's come, he's a great asset to the team and will be for a long time. He played amazing this playoff series and despite some bumps, was a huge difference maker in the many games. Willing to get hacked and whacked by Chara and McQaid to get dirty in front of the net was what Stanley Cup hockey is about.

This picture of him with the gash on his face will be what I remember the most of this Stanley Cup win...

I think it was Kane who joked about Shaw being a 19th round draft pick because he was passed up on two drafts. Said something like Shaw is the best 19th round pick to ever play in the nhl.
