What announcers do you like, hate, or merely tolerate?

I dislike Jeff Van Gundy but he does make some good points now and then. I can't stand Mark Jackson, though he has some nice little funny one-liners every now and then. Like today- 'The Knicks turned on the A.C.-- Anthony Carter.'

I obviously love Stacey King but I really like Neil Funk too despite the fact that he often times misspeaks.

Steve Kerr is my favorite. I love Hubie Brown and I know Anytime23 on here does too.

I like the Lakers' announcers from what I've heard of them. I like the Jazz announcers' too. And their radio announcer who I believe passed away recently.

Bob Costas was great as an NBA announcer. Marv Albert was pretty good in his day too.

And of course I really miss Johnny Red Kerr. His biasedness was so lovable. And my grandma went to high school with him on the south side.

<3 Reggie Miller...when he's not calling pacer games...he's kind of the Troy Aikman of NBA Broadcasting.

Jeff Van Gundy is the worst commentator in the league right now. I have to mute every broadcast with him, otherwise I would miss the entire game with my palm covering my face.

Reggie Miller is gawd awful. Yes, he has gotten better in the last year, but for the most part, he's still Reggie Miller.

Mike Fratello is great. You have to take his criticism with a grain of salt sometimes, but he's fair in his on-air opinions, and timely with his calls.

I still like Marv Albert. He's still the best play by play guy. Mike Breen can't even hold a candle to drunk Marv!

Tom Heinsohn is a phaggot. Sorry, but it would have been said at some point in this thread. 100k ready to go!

Hubie is okay, I can't say anything bad or anything good about him in his current state. He used to be better, but what can you do? He's old.

Mike Tirico should join Mark Jackson in a 69 and never leave the hotel room.

Brian Davis can kiss my ass. He may be the most full of shit play by play guy in the NBA. Grant Long is okay, but you have to wonder if he wants to secretly choke Brian out sometimes.

Eric Reid is okay for a homer, but his buddy, Tony Fiorentino is bass ackwards.

I'm not a big fan of Wennington, but I like all of the other Bulls announcers. Swirsky is great, so is Stacey. I would love to hear them both on TV at some point. I like Neil Funk a lot, he knows a lot more about basketball than people give him credit for.
Bill Wennington calls games, like a golf broadcaster. His voice is soft and sometimes monotone.

Too many to name, but thats my main love/hate-fest.

It seems to me that Mike Breen was put out there to keep Mark Jackson and JVG in-check, but he is failing miserably at that job.

Ill chime in:

Absolutely dreadful:
Mike Breen
Dan Shulman
Marc Jackson
Jeff Van Gundy
Reggie Miller
Chris Webber
Mike Tirico

Very good
Marv Albert
Kevin Harlan
Kevin McHale
Steve Kerr
Mike Fratello
Stacey King
Neil Funk
Hubie Brown

Tolerable
Dick Stockton-- He's not great anymore and should be put out to pasture but I can tolerate him because he was kind of the Marv Albert of the 80s with CBS. Its probably nostalgia more than anything.

On a side-note, I really like Jon Barry as an analyst.

Jon Barry is good. I never appreciated him until I noticed how he didn't make excuses for bad predictions like nearly everyone else. He just took it, and moved onto the next subject.

When Doug Collins use to be an analyst he was absolutely awesome. Steve Kerr basically replaces what Collins can do though.

Doug Collins was funny because he would be making an observation that always coincided with the commercial break.

I'm still waiting for the day when Mark Jackson and JVG are bickering about something completely random like suitcases and Mike Breen just completely snaps on them like 'SHUT. UP. There's a GAME going on right now in-case you haven't noticed!'

Personally, I like Stacey King and Chuck Swirsky a lot (they both have these oddly catchy, but strange phrases that they use). Neil Funk is tolerable for the most part to me. He was better in the 90s. Marv Albert's pretty good. So is Kerr. Chris Webber sucks. Part of me wonders what it'd be like if Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley announced a game...xD

They couldn't be any worse than Chris Weber.

Saying I hate Chris Webber as an announcer is an insult to all announcers for being grouped in the same category as him.
