Garber cited the NHL in the Road to Soccer address, I'm not sure I like that as a model long-term... unless perhaps he was citing how the NHL experienced rapid growth until it was considered a major league but the end of the 1900s? IDK, doesn't sound like a great idea to me though long-term... and I rarely disagree with the MLS (besides NY2).
