So, I was playing Warhammer(A game I've been playing for a couple years) and had HFboards and this site open. I alt tab over to IE and....I have this spyware installed.... I had actually disabled Avast! because I was gaming at the time, so, I'm wondering where this crap came from. Took me a few minutes to clean it up, but, really annoying. Anyone have any ideas? It isn't like I had a bunch of questionable sites open. IHN and HFBoards. That's it... Where the hell did this come from?

Really, I'm not sure how it could have came from here considering I re-installed everything fresh not even 3 weeks ago.

Haha, I wasn't saying it came from here, just curious how the **** I would have gotten this damn thing, when I literally only had two sites open in IE, both sitting inactive. I've never had a spyware infection that just seemed to popup out of nowhere.

Weird... maybe it was latched on earlier and just never reared its ugly head out until then?

Usually spyware is downloaded (without really knowing) from programs that are "free" but have "third party applications" that you are also downloading with it. Most spyware comes from that.

Or, when you visit a site (could be completely on accident) and they ask you to "click OK" to stay on the page when you try and X out, and of course, since you are so use to it you click OK thinking that your web browser is asking you if you'd like to exit. Usually that's when it hits too. If anything like that has happened in the past few weeks that might of been when you were hit. Probably buried itself in some random file and popped out when you took off your protection.

Only thing I can really come up with.

It's your own fault for using IE.

I dont know if my earlier problem had anything to do wiht it (the blackinternet.se thing) , but my desktop PC is now dead. Might be age, could be several other things, but now it cycles through boot up continuously with the blue screen of death popping up during the cycle. Didn't work on it because of my 'rents being in town,I will give it a once over this evening to see if I can salvage it, but it looks like I may be building a new unit here soon.

After being redirected to that http://www.blackinternet.se site my pc started misbehaving, and I subsequently discovered I'd picked up two rootkits I can't get rid of. Just sayin'.

Probably wouldn't hurt for everyone who was redirected there to run updated virus/malware scans.

Are you still having problems being redirected there?

I have never gotten anything from this site, either on the comptuter with anti-virus, or on the computer without. On both computers I hit the landing page for the redirect to blackinternet.se and got nothing.

No. The redirection happened only on that one day for a few hours.
