Well, there are 3 games at historical Soldier Field to have branch colors and not just the standard colors(color guard), and 8 games that featured Notre Dame which I believe is the band playing within the lifespan of that camera. Thus we can narrow it down to 2 games. Between the two games we can narrow it down from, one was played in extreme cold, which then rules out the clothing worn.

If I had to guess, I would say most, if not all of those photos are from Oct. 13, 1928. Notre Dame vs Navy

Looks like a game of some sort with people playing instruments in the back...my guess is a football game with a marching band and a packed house? Not sure though this is tough

specifically, I don't know what was going on in those photos. I do know that Soldier Field has been operated by the Chicago Park District since the 1920's and it used to be a bigger deal than the Bears/Staleys football team was. That's why the Bears were never really going to move to some other stadium, and Soldier Field got renovated into the architectural abomination that it currently is.

So I finally got around to scouring the web for more info/photos.

The hypothesis I received from Liam Ford is that these photos are from German day in Chicago in 1936.

That's possible. According to the almanac, it rained on German Day 1936, about 71 degrees. That doesn't mean it rained all day long, and could explain the overcast.

Scratch that. He's doing more research for me.

He says it's not German day.

Well, the one thing that I didn't see on first glance, is that the field has soccer markings and not football. So I'm pretty sure I'm wrong with my original guess.
