This is for a family member who travels between the US and 220V European countries. They pack the projector in bag, use for work, then set it up at some extended stay place. Their old projector bulb is fading, and rather than buying a new bulb for $150 on an old SVGA res projector, instead would rather upgrade to a 1080p unit.

I know projectors, the specs and components, I just don't keep up with the market and bang for buck type of things. Amazon pushes the Optoma HD27 pretty hard and they like to feature a lot of payola products. But the specs are good and it fits the 110-220V bill. $600 though, seems like maybe the better option might be to buy a solid $300 projector now and when the bulb dies, upgrade again for $300. Kind of splits the difference. Dunno, just a thought.

Anyways, anyone with input here, would be appreciated. I have an old Epson unit in my garage that I bought for teaching workshops and I've done cinema maintenance in the past. But I look at what is offered now, and I'm not familiar with anything that came out in the last 2 years.

TIA
