There nice, but there just an expensive lap-top in my opinion. A cheaper version of an laptop.

The iPad is simply and oversized and overpriced iPod Touch. It does not come close to being able to do what a laptop can. If your wife is looking into a ultra portable computer look into spending a little bit more and get a Macbook Air or a 13" Macbook Pro. Personally I think the iPad is a complete gimmick being that it does not have an optical drive and cannot run computer based applications.

The tablet in total is a great idea.. It's just poorly executed by apple and adored by their fanboys.

That's not true. Its much more powerful than an iPod touch. Youre right in that it cannot do everything a laptop can do but I have been solely using my iPad for the last 6 months and have no problems.
Plus, for the money its solid. $500 laptops aren't exactly the greatest thing on the market either.
Watching baseball, hockey and Netflix on the iPad is absolutely beautiful. Better quality than my tv.

It may not be a "bad" device.. I just think its not the best device it could be..
I've used one for maybe 10 or so hours.. Sure its a wonderful concept. It's just not a completely finished and perfect product yet.
There are certain things that I would love to have a tablet for.. Storm Chasing radar being one of them.

I have a joojoo. It was launched before the ipad, but it wasnt really available until around the same time.
I have only used an ipad once, and it's not powerful enough to do what it's designed to do IMO. It becomes a novelty piece, more than anything. The joojoo was better for me, because Im a techie, and its freaking great to have. I have basically replaced carrying paper/books/netbook/mp3 player around with me, and I just use this.
I write all my notes on it, lists, everytime you're hunting down a notepad to write stuff down on the fly, I just use this, and I transfer everything to my home network or phone on the fly. I would definitely get a better tablet in the 10" range again in the future. I wouldn't recommend the joojoo or the iPad right now, just because there are better products on the market. When I picked up mine, it was the best option for me, and it's still going strong.
