I was in the Art of Shaving store yesterday in Oakbrook, god damn't is that shit expensive. I guess it lasts awhile but I can't justify $25 on shaving cream.

Anyways, talking to the dude yesterday he was talking about how he uses a straight razor. I've always wanted to have it done. Anybody here do it, or get it done at a good place?

I don't live near you guys but my barber has been using a straight razor on me for like 14 years. Feels so good with the warm lather...but I would never try using it on myself.

Never done it. Use to go to a barber that would do it, but he couldn't all the time and it was expensive...so I started going to a beautician w/ huge cans.

I went through a phase of using a straight razor. It is nice, but requires a lot more concentration and time. The cost:benefit is piss poor, but it's nice to just go to a barber from time to time, if you really like it.

I actually dropped all of the gimmick disposable shavers(Mach3/Fusion/Quatro/Bic's), and I prefer a trusty double edged razers. I have been using a Merkur safety handle for 5 years now as my primary. It's just as close as a straight razer, but with shaver convenience. Buy yourself the hot towel and foam, then it's pretty much on par.

I only use straight razors.

Personally I believe there should be a contitutional amendment abolishing all *** razors.

We must protect the sanctity of shaving. :troll:

Electric shavers are nice, until you get the smallest dent in the clipperguard. Then you're like... "Where the **** are these tiny nicks and cuts coming from?"

Did straight at barber once. About a month before marriage in case my face had a reaction. For me the extra smoothness was minimal. Had electric when I was a young teen. By the time I was a late teen the hair became too coarse.

Used cream then the invetion of gel. Changed forever. Used sink but the heat I need was too painful on the hands. Moved permanently to shaving "blind" in the shower

The place I get my hair cut at specializes in straight razor shaves. There's no better feeling than getting your hair cut and a shave.

I started doing that last summer. I rarely if ever cut myself now...unless I don't have time in the morning to shave then I end up shaving later in the day if I'm going out at night, then I end up cutting myself. Warm towel doesnt seem to do the trick.

Electric shavers work like crap on me.
