Figured that I would beat X to this topic, in the midst of his elevated discoveries of so many popular outdoor activities.

So anyone wing chun?

I've heard of it, but I haven't taken part in it. It's a type of martial arts, correct?

Joe might know something about it or possibly partake in it. I believe he takes karate classes right now.

Oh, I know plenty about it. I just wondered if anyone here wing chuns?

IMO it's the ultimate hand-eye training for defensive martial arts. Key word, training. Applications in real hand to hand combat with a pure wing chun form, not so much. Wing chun is also one of Bruce Lee's area of expertise, and what helped with his legendary hand speed.

The only formal martial arts that I had ever done, was 4 years of semi-competitive BJJ and a year of karate. I was always the biggest kid in my classes, so growing up, I was always in fights(you know, pick on the big kid, make a name for yourself). Actually joining some kind of a martial arts class would require money, which I didn't have.

Or I would need space, books, and supportive surrounding, which I also didn't have.

U, Uman?

I signed up for classes in middle school, but never actually went to any of them. It seemed like every time they would schedule a class, I had baseball or basketball practice. I was definitely interested though, just wasn't the right time for it. I may look into it again once I finish school.

If you haven't, check out the movie Ip Man. It's about Master Ip, who I think invented or mastered wing chun, and later taught Bruce Lee. But the movie isn't about that, and is fictionalized.
