Not at all, I thought he had a terrible camp. Let him develop to a #2 center in Rockford

Yeah, not only was he not very good this pre-season, but I never really saw much from him last year either.

There's no need for him now. Mayers can play 4C and Kane is actually a very good 2C. Q is a genius. And everyone called him crazy...

Not sure if there is sarcasm there (sorry if I'm not detecting it), but I think it's too quick to judge Kane at C. I'm far from being sold those goods. Real games will shed true light on that.

I'm not quite sold on Kane at C just yet after 2 pre-season games. especially if he is going to get lazy and not get back into his own zone

Forgot about Mayers.

Sharp-Toews-???
Brunette-Kane-Hossa
Bickell-Bolland-Frolik
Olesz-Mayers-???

Not sure who made the team or not, to many cuts to keep track of.

Yeah, I have a couple problems with him at center including the fact that he doesn't play defense. Other than that, he's pretty good there. He wins face offs and can pass.

Brunette-Toews-Sharp
Saad-Kane-Hossa
Bickell-Bolland-Frolik
Olesz-Mayers-Carcillo

That's what I'm guessing. When Smith and Stalberg come back Smith will probably be on the fourth line and possibly on the second every once and a while. Same with Stalberg.

^^^ I'd be surprised if they break up Brunette/Kane/Hossa - that line played together in the pre-season and looked pretty good. Saad played on Toews' wing for a couple of games so I would expect Saad/Toews/Sharp. Everything else looks good.

Kruger played better than I thought he would in the playoffs last year... but I am not surprised hes in Rockford this year. He didnt deserve it, but if he did crack the Hawks, it would only be where he would get limited action... and that doesnt help him grow. Playing on one of the top lines for the Hogs will get him better in the future.

The roster is pretty much settled for right now, except I wonder who will be playing in place of carcillo the first couple games on the 4th line with mayers and olesz

I really wanted to see him get a shot but he had a piss poor camp. What really surprises me is that Saad is going to get a shitload of real live minutes and for an 18 year old rook that's gonna be hard. I thought for sure he'd be in Rock. I'm confused as hell about the lines!

hes to young to play in the AHL. He has to go back to his junior team.

The NHL needs to figure out a way to change that rule - I'm sure they will look into it when the new CBA rolls around.

Also, the fact that Saad can't play in the AHL but a Morin/Olsen/Leddy could (at the same age) is a loophole that needs to be fixed, one way or another.

I understand that the NHL wants to have a good relationship with the Junior teams and that you don't want to pillage all their talent, but 18 year olds are more ready to make the jump to the NHL than just about any era. A player like Saad would develop more as a player if he were able to play top 6 minutes in the AHL compared to top 6 minutes in juniors. Not to mention how much he would develop if he was able to flow freely between the NHL/AHL, instead of putting a game limit on his NHL experience.

I thought there was a new rule about AHL age. I could be wrong though.
