If so.... what was life like afterwards?

some growths were incidentally found on mine and my doc is recommending I remove it to be on the safe side. Since there's no way to biopsy it, he doesn't think it's worth taking the risk.

Of course, I turned to Google and I've read a lot of people have issues with chronic diarrhea, reflux, etc. My doc says it's rare that people experience this, but it seems pretty common.

I don't know anyone that's had it removed, so I thought I'd ask here haha.

My wife, daughter and son have all had theirs removed and have had zero problems since.

Just going by lazy Wikipedia'ing, the diarrhea doesn't seem to last long, and it is caused by obvious changes to the biliary system. Once that gets regulated you should be good. In my Google MD opinion, you should do it.

Not being a jerk.
Why can't they do a biopsy?
Have you talked to another Doc and see what they say.?

Because the gallbladder wall is pretty thin. If they pierce it to get the biopsy, there is a big risk the hole won't heal and the bile that's stored in the gallbladder will start leaking out and cause a bunch of bad problems.

Damn. Was it something genetic, or just bad luck?

I think genetic because all her sisters and both parents also had theirs removed. Only my mom on my side.

My wife explained that to me after I posted.
I've had surgery 28 times so I ask many questions.
Sounds like you have a good Doc.

Every time I hear about gallbladders being removed I have this quick cut in my brane to that scene in Armageddon when the drilling team sees the NASA rigs and starts ripping parts out lol.

Hope it goes well @BNB, assuming you go thru.

@BNB my kids were both young so they really didn’t notice a difference but my wife said it was the best thing for her.

Nurse: "So any history of surgeries?"

Me: "I've had 13 major surgeries on my right leg and 1 on my left ring finger to repair tendon damage"

Nurse: "Oh wow that's alot..."

She proceeds to ask about my surgeries so she gets interesting stories.

Fast forward 5 mins.

Nurse: "Okay, so have you had general anesthesia before?"

Me: "Bish u even listen the last 5 mins?"

Nurse: "..."

Me: "AND YOU ENDED YOUR SENTENCE WITH A PREPOSITION!"
