Pretty much what I've been saying. No hacker worth their salt would bother with Playskool's "My 1st Computer"

5 years from now the hacker motto will be "When I write a virus for OSX, it just works.".

Not surprising at all. With the surge of Macs being the hip computer for everyone it was bound to start interesting hackers and virusmakers. That's just how it is. Hopefully all the smug Apple zealots will be crying in front of their bricked Mac as their bank accounts are drained.

Finally, a giant computer security firm says what I have been saying all along, only to have apple users act like im an idiot and don't know what im talking about.

Macs are only safe because it simply isnt worth it....until, macs become more popular. Apple has just pretty much been using that as a crutch.

Far from new news.

LOL. Dick.

This is not real new news in the Apple Support, hardcore Apple community, or those that pay attention to computer security. Kapersy is not the first major company to come out with this either....all of the other major ones have from time to time...and usually wrapped with an "ad" for their product to keep you safer.

Security is probably one of the biggest suggestions that has been posed to the company for the last several years.

The biggest safety boost that Apple gets is that the last 3 major malware\virus\trojen\etc required users to accept the installation in order to infect the computer (like the time machine exploit)....of course that does not stop stupid. The rest of the major issues are the same browser and unix holes that can be found elsewhere.

The other safety is that most of the system API's along with the kernel, are not released outside of the company. Does not create a 100% secure situation, but it does significantly limit who has access to the sensitive parts to exploit.

But again, this does not abstain the company from not really putting much effort into it.

Of course it isn't, but at the same time that is only like 2% of the overall small number of Apple hipsters. The rest are so oblivious to the fact that Apple has even long used it as a marketing tool. So of course it's not news to people who already know this, funny how that works, haha, but the vast majority of Apple users still think it's infallible. Course they all thing the need the next generation device the day it comes out too... hiyo! damn I wish I had my flask ed mcmahons back, and my instant rimshots.

Would be nice if they could comprehend what being a channel partner actually meant and could actually ship their fucking product.

IPAD 3 must be having issues.

Actually it is the desktops and laptops (OSX) that are the issue not the iOS devices. The iOS devices get a vastly better secuirty rating than the Android devices.

Demand. And even with lower demand it has always been that way with them, where inventory was way low for the first 3-4 months of a product then magically available. Stupid if you ask me, but is it a good marketing strategy to gardner salivating want.

I don't see what that has to do with my comment? It's a mentality. The folks who believe their computers are virus proof are also the same folks who run out and by the next generation of their products every 6 months because they believe it's that much better and they have to have it?

That is a rat race I am glad Im not involved in.

I have an MP3 player thats 2 years old and a phone that isnt smart. The money people are spending to keep up with the jones's on that crap.

Theres one thing Id like to ask Ipod owners. How on earth can you possibly say an Ipod is more user friendly than an MP3 player.

I dont' have an MP3 player. I have a smart phone, but I've only ever got a phone when my contract is up and it's time to get a new phone for resigning. If I listen to music it's on my phone, and it's usually pandora.

I use both. I get ipods and MP3 players coming out of my ear from lost and found at the hotel i work in (of course I obey the 6 month rules).

I find both are good for different jobs. I think that goes for most tech shit? I have always found it that way for myself anyways. If I am doing something physically active I find ipods are not the best for that. When I am just walking around or not doing much active I like ipods better.

i can tell you this. Ipods are easier to repair than mp3 players. even a twit like myself can fix an ipod if it goes wonky. as for an mp3 player there are too many different varities and models so it gets more complicated. Thats the biggest difference I find as far as being user friendly. And that is probably why I prefer apple products in general.

I have a smart phone (again i got it free from lost and found) and I use it more to surf the web than to ever make or take a phone call. For me having a phone is useless while having a device i can surf the web on is more usefull. I don't like phones and I don't know enough people where I need one on me 24 hours a day nor do I want it on me. Everything comes from text now anyways in my world..my personal and my work world is all texting. I like that. I like that a lot actually.

I dont use my phone to play music because its a battery sucker. I much prefer having an ipod or mp3 player for that. I live with headphones in my ears so a phones battery life never does it for me.
