The Bears will roll out 2 #1 WR in Moore and Allen and have a 2 headed TE crew that will chew up quite a few targets. Unless a true bluechipper falls to #9 do the Bears just roll with VJJ and TS as the #3 WR and #4 target?

Mooney just made 3/$39M based on an average of 35 receptions and 450 yards the last 2 seasons. Seems many in the NFL think Fields may have been to blame for the lack any production beyond his #1 read WR.

Just preparing you all as to prevent a rash of penile displacement.

No. Keenan has missed games and is in his 30’s.

WR is a premium position in todays NFL.

WR appears to be the best potential value if the 4 QB’s go in the top 8 and the draft board falls our way.

Lastly, Caleb Williams is the most valuable asset of the franchise. Loading him up with weapons is NEVER a fucking bad idea. He’s a distributor along with being a magician.

Regardless the Bears need more WR depth.

I just hope the line can hold during drives. At least the upgrades, although not superstars, are better than what we had last year. Let’s see by how much.

Bears at some point need to prove the world wrong and draft a QB who succeeds and stays with the franchise. Invest as much as possible in making that happen

The great thing about trading for Allen is it opens up the pick at 9. Unless Nabers falls (I don’t think you can pass on him), WR isn’t the must-have at that spot like it was before the trade. Alt, Verse, Turner, etc would all be fantastic picks there in addition to someone like Odunze.

Plus, it happens to be a deep WR draft, so if they go another way at 9, they can draft another solid WR later on in the draft.

That trade for Allen really opened things up. Solid move Poles made there.

Scott was a rookie, 4th option with a QB who didn’t progress past #2.

It’s early to give up on him. He may blossom with all the attention elsewhere.

Definitely not but Scott became a little more intriguing to me once i saw mooney’s contract.

Fields could have just been that bad.

I won't be mad if they take Nabers or Odunze if they are there at nine. I won't be mad if they take a can't miss edge or OT or trade back either.

The problem is the drop off after Moore and Allen is pretty bad. Guys like Jones and Scott would barely make it as depth on a lot of teams.

The bigger problem is the drop off on the field in the starting lineup at EDGE2.

Hell no. Don't screw Williams like Poles screwed Fields. A good WR should be available in the 3rd round to support the two No. ones.

No, the Bears need at least 2-3 more decent/good NFL quality WRs. One injury to Keenan Allen, DJ Moore, or both at the same time.... wooo this team would be just as shitty as every other year.
So by this logic they should draft:

Bowers in case Kmet gets hurt.
A Tackle in case Jones and/or Wright get hurt.
A CB in case Johnson gets hurt
A Safety in case Brisker gets hurt.

Or maybe they could just draft an EDGE because SWEAT could get hurt!

If they can find a way to get his boy Thomas or even Rice much later, that'd do it.

Right. DE is the biggest need position on the team right now and it's not very close, especially when you consider Walker is capable of playing 3T, maybe even better there than DE. If we're picking BPA at the biggest position of need, there's not even a discussion for how the 9th pick should be spent.

Look at next year's picks and we've got a 1st and 2 2nds. That's plenty of resources to draft another WR that can play if we want/need to, along with dipping into this deep class with our 3rd round pick. The idea of making whoever we take with a top 10 pick 3rd on the depth chart is crazy to me.

If Poles isn't trying to find younger, up and coming talent, then wtf is he even here for? You should ALWAYS be scouting and looking for something better, as a GM. You never know when your starters will go down with injury, and for how long or severe. That's how teams get caught slipping.

A lot of people on this board don't want Nabers because of his off field issues. I can respect that and I'm sure he's off the board for McCaskey.

That being said, I'd run to the podium and take him at 9.

If we are being honest with ourselves, in a fully healthy year, we should expect to see Moore and Allen wolf up the majority of opportunities, with nobody else really becoming a standout third weapon. Moore and Allen are going to eat up 2500 receiving yards between them in a fully healthy year. If our new QB tosses for 3500, that means that Kmet, Everett, Scott and VJJ are combining for the other 1000. This impression is based off of the passing results that Hurts accomplished in 2022.

Any additional target drafted this year is either part of a long term plan that exceeds Allen's expected time (see how the Seahawks have drafted their dynamic rookie to be the third weapon while Lockett rides out his tenure with the team), or will be part of the plans that takes this offense from something routine to something more dynamic.
