Signed a 1 year deal for $5 million.

I'm not sure he'll be better than Avi, Melky, or LaRoche, but for depth and minimal risk, completely worth the shot at it.

I agree. I am still disappointed that it looks like that they are not going to add a needed bat.

I think it's a real nice signing!!! He's not a big name, and aside from defense, he does nothing great. But he does give you an above average player, who does give you an enormous amount of bench strength and a ton of flexibility at a more than reasonable salary.

If there was a dollar for dollar champion in baseball like pound for pound in MMA/Boxing the White Sox would have something to compete for every year.

You got a fan base that does not support the team. Jerry spends plenty.

They are in the middle of the pack in spending money. That is not good enough. Chicago deserves better. If you build it (a good team), they will come (fans).

1) They have the second worst attendance just ahead of Miami
2) No they don't.

Last year they were 15th in salary in all of baseball. That is middle of the pack.

You gotta be fucking kidding me if we are standing around and high living Austin Jackson!! noo!!! Absolutely desperate move to remain competitive. Jackson played in Chicago last season did you not watch? He's done. He was doing nothing in Seattle. Veteran reliable defense is all this is. A warm fucking body to jerk off Rollins in the clubhouse.

Yep. Austin Jackson is very little more than a defensive late inning replacement and pinch runner off of the bench. I cannot get excited about that guy joining the team. It really doesn't add anything of consequence. They need a left handed power bat. I get the feeling is that they HOPE that somehow LaRoche is going to somehow morph into that bat. That is nuts. It might happen but I would say that the odds of LaRoche posting his average numbers are pretty long.

I just get sick and tired of the settling for over-the-hill or never were players like they just added in Rollins and Jackson. When was the last time, the Chicago White Sox have ever gone bold and did something that was daring? I say that it was Jim Thome and that was awhile ago. But since then, Reinny has been pinching pennies like Scrooge. Reinny thinks that he will needs his millions in order to bribe Michael the Archangel at the Pearly Gates to get safe passage to heaven. Guess what, Reinny, Michael is an AVENGING ANGEL and is a WHite Sox fan who will filet you before sending you to Satan and taking your millions at the gate. **** Reinny. Satan will:)

And was second to last in attendance. Looks like they spend way more than they take in attendance wise.

White Sox fans proved a long time ago that they will come out for a winning, exciting team. Putting a team of losers on the field and calling them your team and fans will not come out. Look, Brett, Reinny is just not a good team owner for either the Bulls or the White Sox. In my view the Bulls should have won at least two titles since Jordan and company left but at every turn, Reinny has refused to exceed the cap for any significant amount and potential titles go to other teams instead.

With the Sox it is different in that they never have a chance in the first place of competing because of the dearth of talent on the field. His plan is always............Lets bring in some over-the-hill guys with decent names like LaRoche, Rollins, Dunn, etc, hope that by somekind of magic that they can compete until the trading deadline and if so, then trade for someone who can push them to the top. IF they can't, then jettison the old guys to some team which needs them. This is Reinny's way. It is boring and predictable. I only wish some owner like Mark Cuban would buy this team and make it exciting at least.

WOnder how much money Reinny has made in investing that $13M of LaRoche's salary. Maybe they will stuff the proceeds into his casket when he departs this planet.

That is incorrect. Do you consider the 2005 team "a good team"? They finished 17th, not even in the top half. A bad Cub team out drew them by over 700,000. Don't ever think that the Cell will turn into Wrigley south no matter how "good" they are....Sox will always be the "other" Chicago baseball team.
